Hello, I have owned a 2009 Tige 22ve and a 2014 Tige RZ2 AVX. Both of these boats produced good surf wakes when properly weighted, but from my experience and with the lake we ride on (8-9 feet in depth) the sweet spot was pretty much right behind the back of the boat. I could make the wake longer but the push went away. I am now looking at a 2016 Tige Z3 with Taps 3 and I was wondering what I can expect. My buddy just purchased a 2019 Malibu MXZ with surf gates and the wake is great, does anyone know how the Z3 will compare?

2016 Tige Z3 Taps 3 - Hows does it surf?

The 2016 Z3 with TAPS 3 is a solid boat, and it will surf well... but I would recommend more lead to really make her sing. We found the sweet spot to be around 1000 pounds of lead, with 500 on each side under the bags. If the water is glass, another 200 on the floor is fun. I have not surfed a '19 Malibu, so can't comment on comparison.

I agree with sandm - a lot of the physics behind the wave creation has to do with the displacement of water. You cannot get the desired results in shallow water. No matter what type of system we use, we still have to move water to create the wave. I think those depths you are going to be challenged to create any wave with significant power behind it."I think I am pretty smart for an idiot"
