    2021 25zx - disappointed

Just received my new 2021 25zx- sad to say it’s been a huge disappointment. Literally the only thing that works appropriately are the seat heaters (we live in SD and need heaters to extend season).

port ballast fills in 3.5 mins, starboard takes 17min, bow 11 mins. I’m constantly battling the list due to abnormal weight distributions. My dealer says it’s “normal”. Starboard bag rarely fully drains, usually with 1/2 to 1/4 left in the bag. Front windshield doesn’t close, dealer had to temporarily bend hinges to get it to close. Bimini slide doesn’t fully seat, driver heater vent broken. Temperature guage always reads 104 despite it being 75, Wake tune doesn’t adjust wake at all- its just big all the time, too big for my young kids to surf and lowering taps down to 1 won’t even mellow it out or lengthen it. I have to completely drain ballasts to mellow it out, but then we significantly list since that starboard ballast rarely empties.... sigh.

wonder if the covid crisis in Texas affected their production. Anyone else have issues with a 2021 (might be a bit early but thought I’d ask).

either way, boat’s going on boat trader. Heading back to my trusty mastercraft. Anyone interested in a fully loaded 2021zx with the above issues let me know..

      Sorry to hear it.
This is why I'm planning on going elsewhere for my next boat as well.
I love tiges, but there seem to be way too many little quality control issues to justify spending the money they are asking these days.
I've been looking hard at every forum and facebook group for most of the major brands and tige consistently seem to have tons of small annoying issues.
Overall everything seems OK but little crap like you mention is extremely prevalent it seems.

From what I've seen tige always steps up and takes care of the issues but to be frank on a 160K boat I'd expect to at least be able to use it without having to be back at the dealer every few weeks for the first season to work out all the kinks that the factory didn't catch.

Granted I have no experience personally, just what I've gleaned from the last few years.

Man this is tough I'd be very unhappy as well. We have a 2020 25ZX and have had some issues but always fixed quickly. The ballast filling and draining issue is pretty weird, but shouldn't be tough for your dealer to get right. I'm really surprised the Go system isn't working right, did you dealer check the actuators and make sure they are deploying as they should? Easy diagnostic to do for them literally takes 30 seconds.

yeah on my 2020 r23 the temperature on the tige screen is always wrong. I think its the location and is in the sun but still not cool that's it's wrong. If you find a fix please post.

So everything worked when you did a walk through the dealer, then upon arriving home, nothing works? Strange.

chp- not everyone does a walkthru. our 22ve we hooked up and went. no lake test nor walk thru was offered. we honestly didn't expect one as anything that's wrong we knew to take it back with the warranty.

our r23 should be here any day now and we have not even seen the boat.

i'm with duff that the dealer should help make it right or take it back. market right now not a lot of risk on the dealer side to refund and resell. or since OP has already paid tax on it, trade at the MC dealer. bet they would be happy to have a '21 tige on the lot to peddle.
              2012 22ve.. RIP 4/17

I think dealer effort is a big deal here. You pay prep fees and stuff when you buy a boat right? They have a responsibility to deliver the product to you finished and walked over. Tige makes sure the ballast pumps work - they wouldn’t know it’s taking 3 minutes can 15. Car dealerships do a lot of things to a car before final delivery as another example.

Ill echo - dealership has to make this right. (And arguable should have noticed things like broken heater vents before they turned it over)

Sorry you are having a frustrating experience man. Suck...

Jdoc13 , sorry to hear you aren't happy with your boat. My sentiment would echo others as well. Dealer should be taking care of you. I also understand that you have a short summer in SD and would rather be boating than have the boat at the dealership. Being frustrated with a purchase thats this much $ is also frustrating. Hopefully whatever you decide to do can get it resolved(getting it fixed or dropping it for an MC)

Just a heads up...nobody is perfect. Have a 2020 MC coming in for a popped seam on a tank that requires engine out and we will have his boat for a while. Have had a rash of ballast leaks on Skiers Choice boats this summer. We file warranty claims with all our manufacturers every year. I cant speak to Nautique, Malibu, and Axis as they are the other dealer in town, but I can sey they employ 5 techs(we employ 3). Have one of their customers frustrated with their g23 right now and they are ordering a Supra SL. If the other guys were perfect they shouldn't need a service department.

Its just my opinion but some boats come off the line flawless. Some come off the line with flaws that owners overlook/dont care about. To some if lake temp/air temp is wrong at they screen they dont care. Its either hot enough to boat and get in the water or its not. For others this in unacceptable on their boat. Other boats come off the line with problems that need to get worked through if their dealer support is good on the back end of the sale. Just what I see as a tech.

Sucks you are having issues and are not happy with your boat.

Yes many issues were discovered when we picked up the boat (such as broken heater vent, bent hinges), we didn’t do a lake test with the dealer. I can handle those things.. but then start piling on performance problems on the lake and we’re two weeks in and I’ve still yet to make a good wave... as stated above, as a boat owner for 20 plus years I just expected much more attention to detail when this amount of cash is trading hands. Doesn’t give me confidence this boats going to last.

In my experience, a one or even two year old boat is by far the best boat to buy. All the manufacturer screw ups have been taken care of already. The first scratch has already happened and out of the way. The first year depreciation is yours to enjoy. If I have learned anything from these boat forums it is that you must prepare yourself to have a poor first season when buying a new boat. It might be an awesome season, but be ready because it could easily be bad. But the next season should be much better.

(PS, I'll give you $100k for your boat with all its issues.)

The cost of the boat should not reflect the condition of it upon delivery. Imagine if I had a price-point boat labor quality and a hi-end boat labor quality? "Your boats a Crapliner? We'll get our worst guy right on it!" Stupid, right?

I do not think dealers realize how much they can effect the factory QC. There are at least 2 points that these types of issues can be caught AFTER the boat leaves the factory and BEFORE a buyer drives off the lot. Rigging/PDI and sea trial, and then again before delivering to the new owner. At this point, it can be determined if delivery needs to be put on hold for more critical issues, or are they simple cosmetic, and a we-owe is written.

If an issue is reported to the manufacturer after the sale, its looked upon as a general warranty claim. These can be component failure or an assembly line issue. But they are not viewed as a Quality control mistake, as the boat should have been inspected by dealer, and no issue noted. These numbers are generally handled a particular way. However, issues reported to the manufacturer upon the dealers initial rigging, PDI and sea trial, can be used much differently. These issue are generally a result of assembly and quality control mistakes, pre-shipment. These issues can be tracked down right to the day it should have been inspected and person(s) that missed. At this point, the manufacturer can address this by personnel or procedure. If the dealer never does this, how can we expect the manufacturer to address these issue?

Ballast filling = should have be caught and resolved before any perspective buyer ever set foot in boat
heat vents broken = should NEVER have been seen by buyer

With all this said, im not revealing the factory of its responsibility to deliver a flawless product, but the factory has to know where its lacking. This is where the dealers do not or are are not held accountable, to provide this needed feedback.

I would ask your dealer to update the computer software or have them send you a copy. Could just be on computer glitch and re loading the software might fix it.

For the ballast lift up your sub floor and check to see if anything is folded over or kinked.

I too had issues if found during my delivery last year that I should have never seen. With that said, sucks to have issues with anything brand new. Talk to your salesman and service manager and if they don’t put you in front of the service line then call the factory and tell them all you are leaving the boat with them for good and you want a full refund.

My previous boat was a brand new Tahoe Q5....one of the cheaper runabouts you can get. Never had an issue with it over the 15years I had it,but it didn’t have all of the various systems like these tow boats have either.....
                            Touch screens
                            PDMs
                            Multi audio amps
                            Duel battery with isolator
                            Ballast pumps, bags,etc
                            Led speakers...
                            Heated seats
                            Heat vents
                            Powered towers
The list goes on and on

Each added component increases probability of a failure or installation/procedure issues

Good Luck. Hope you get resolution soon and if you move onto another boat, hope it goes flawless for you.....
