    2014 z3 vdrive and tranny

Had an incident and i'm now having to replace my vdrive and tranny. Would you recommend a rebuild or new? Are there even any rebuilds out there and if so where should i start looking? I'm working with insurance but not sure if they are going to cover or not.

    Thanks

Just out of curiosity...What happened and what are symptoms that lead to this diagnosis. Not doubting you need trans/vdrive. Have just been down this road and drive plate is actually the issue.

i had a prop strike and on the way to the trailer boat wouldn't shift to reverse or neutral. they have the tranny and v drive pulled but can't get the two to separate. Insurance is picking it up to try and separate before they will agree to pay. the mechanic said the tranny is locked in forward and won't come out. they checked with indmar and they won't sell tranny separate from the v drive. they say it's one unit.

I would try Mike at Harbor Marine in Everett WA.

        Cant remember his direct extension.

Thats interesting that its locked if forward. Wondering if some debris is stuck in the body holding the spool valve is the fwd position.

I just had mine done on a 2015 Z3 raptor 400 with indmar trans and vdrive. Oil seal failed on output shaft. I had a new one installed by Germaine marine for 5K and change

            It a ZF45 or ZF41? My ‘14 has a 41.

not positive but i think it's a 45. it's at the dealer. they have ordered a new one from indmar but it's back ordered.

It probably is a 45, but if it’s a 41, it is actually a PCM. Much easier to find, cheaper and easy to repair.
