    Bunk carpet staples

I have to replace the carpet on my bunks and need to know what length staples to use. I am wondering if 3/8" will hold just fine or whether I should use 1/2". I am not sure that 1/4" will make any difference at all...

    Thoughts?

I've never replaced any but I would go with the1/2" staples

More is better! Go for the 1/2". Stainless Steel, of course.
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

        X2

However, I've been successful with 3/8" in the past. It depends on how hard the wood is. Make sure you have a good staple gun like powershot (foward pressing).

I have pressure treated... just your basic pine infused with arsenic n stuff.

I have a powershot (bought it years ago) but for this will be using a pneumatic.

I went with 3/8 think 1/2 would be better but there so cheap I just stapled about every 2 inches. Thats what overtons and other boat resellers sell on their sites so think its fine. 1/2 would probably be better just could not find 1/2 for marine applications at two of my lowes.

I went with 3/8" SS. Depending on the power of your gun, 1/2" may be a PITA. My gun would barely shoot a 3/8" all the way in the bunkers. I ended up having to follow up with a hammer and smacking them all the way in.

Me too. I also could only find SS in 3/8". HomeDepot didn't have it in any other sizes.
