    2015 z3 raptor 400 bad starter? has anyone attempted to R&R there starter?

    Has anyone replaced the low mounted raptor starter, mine just clicks when I attempt to start it as if the batterys are low although they are fully charged and everthing else runs except the motor will not crank over.
    a week ago the boat was run with quite a bit of water in the buldge so the starter has been wet or submerged.

    So I would pull it. Clean it up and have it tested at a local shop or auto part store. Then decide if you need a new one. Check your battery power again and the relay too. Sometimes batteries fail when tje heat turns on. Buy marine specific for the spark protection it offers.

      Those early Raptors have a bottom mount starter and its NOT fun getting them out. At least you have a little more room on the z3. They are top mount starters now. Good luck!

        I'm with freeheel. OMG I hate removing them. My suggestion would be long extensions to pull the three bolts, pull starter towards transom then disconnect the wires.

          I may attempt to pull it out now that it sounds do able, looking at it I was intimidated by the hard to reach allen bolts holding it on and I wasnt sure if there is the clearance needed to fit it out once disconected.

          It sounds like a few of you have pulled one out succesfully already, Id hate to drop it off at the dealer for a week or two in the middle of summer.
          I found the part on line for $320

              Yes it looked fine and I am getting power to the starter since it clicks when attempting to start

                If you get it out and pull off the external torxs on the back the cap pops off. Betcha uts full of rust inside.
