Stainless tends to be not kind to anything its attached to when its impacted. Hence why we use brass props :-)
      Oh Yeah!

Bravo X and the the input shaft is stuck in the drive plate because of the forces involved. Check out the prop shaft and oh yeah, there's a hole in the front of the lower unit bullet...Does anyone want to venture a guess at which western lake this occurred?

Lake Powell, the most rock infested lake in the world!

It happened in Havasu, which takes some doing.

Dang boatwakes. Any damage to transom and/transom seal as well or too early to tell??

We already have two good wrecks for the year here. This one is the worst of the two. Sadder part is this is the second time owner had found the same pile of rocks.

He says his wife was driving this time

The input shaft is stuck in the drive plate, forged steel into aluminum. We learned in welding school you can weld two different metals together by what's called "impact" welding. Case in point. Transom steering pins are wobbly so needs new drive, transom assembly and drive plate...a little over $16k.

Where is this said pile of rocks at? Want to make sure we never meet it!

Arrowrock near where the South Fork dumps into the reservoir. Id say you will never meet it but if Lucky gets any busier I will be seeing you up there. Been doing Black Canyon a lot more lately to dodge the crowds.

Look at the twisted splines. That takes some serious force. Looks like the prop rotated against rocks for a while (because all blades are damaged) but I bet that shaft twist came from a single sudden torque shock. Wow.
