There are probably 20 questions to ask but the first is - You have wakesurfed before?

800 lbs + peeps will give you a good wake. It seems you got that but couldn't get enough speed to get a slack rope. I would see if you could barrow and try another board or 2, but i'm guessing that O'brian is surfable, but you will need to get way up on the nose. Maybe Surfdad or others that have ridden this board can chime in on it, but I think you got enough wake to surf.

Yea itll take you some time before you can release the rope. Get an indo board, it is almost identical feeling to finding and stayin in the pocket.

seemed like rope would go slack but needed alittle boost here and there should we move way up on tip of the board

                  Caddy:

Have a 24ve, and had same issue(s) last 2 years. Had 2 400# bags that were a hassle to fill/drain and move. It takes practice to surf and and only one time did I get the boat weighted properly, and that was with a big crew. When it was dialed it, it was awesome, but frustrating on learning how to get it dialed in. We also had a smaller board (CWB Razr) that I was just too heavy for (I'm sensitive and big boned 205# 6')

Over winter, Chptril helped me source out a ballast system and my setup will be like Ragboy's with the 1400# bags and Ballast Puppys. Also Santa Claus brought us (ME!) a new MOJO Asylum board from Mr.FAE his-own-self Larry Mann that is rated for sensitive and big-boned guys up to 240#. I am so pleased with my FAE I decided to try their MOJO--and will probably add to my quiver boards from other MFGs as time goes on. I think Surfboards are like Guitars and Bicycles--when asked how many does one need, the only proper answer is "Just One More".

That being said MY BOAT IS STILL IN WINTER STORAGE!!! ARRRGH, and I'm out of town yet again this weekend so I won't be launching and trying out til mid-late May. Can't wait to try out the new system, and I will post pix of my showing my guns. Here is a good link for the GUN SHOW (and I'm several pix down when I did get up and free surf for a while.

One key that either SurfDad or Da Ball or someone gave me the tip of leaning forward like a gorilla with shoulders over knees and balancing.

Learning how to surf is a good obsession, and hopefully this year will pay off from past attempts. It looks so easy when you see people doing it, and like most things, it probably is once you go through the learning curve. I'm looking to improve a lot this summer with the right tools.

My unprofessional opinion is that you just need more practice. It's not as easy as it looks like it SHOULD be.

Keep trying. And get a better board. Lots of good used beginner boards out there used if you don't wanna spring for a new one.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

                      Practice will make perfect.

When I had my 05 24V, I put 800 in the corner and got a good surfable wave...but at 1200 pounds you are really beginning to talk!

And here is what the wake looks like with 5 adults and 4 kids in the boat and 1200 pounds. With that much weight it seemed like I found the wave better at 11.5 MPH.

That is me on my Mojo XL. That is an older version made of wood. It has been a good board, but I am interested in selling if anyone wants to make an offer. I still have the board box. It is in near perfect condition. I am 225 pounds and 6'9" for perspective.

                        Be excellent to one another.
