Thanks, too bad it won't be delivered by the 4th this year. Festooned with flags, it's going to Rock Lake Pend Oreille next summer.

Well, now that the cat's out of the bag - We have the docking thruster on our boat! For the record (KoolAid and Germaine Marine So Cal), I was NOT the one to share the news.

        LMAO! You dog.

How does it dock? Super easy?

edit: I guess I need to go buy a new boat so I can get a damn shirt out of the deal!

Thanks, that's what the dealer told me. Running lines on both sides and integrating them can't be cheap, but I see potential for some hull damage.

I don't know how it docks...LOL. We only had it out for shake down with Germaine Marine, and he docked while I backed the trailer up for launch and recovery. He loved it. I used it a little to turn around for a down surfer, and that was pretty cool. I will share more next Monday after we return from a long weekend of boating. As for the shirt - it's a West Coast Tige Reunion shirt! Coincidence that it matches the boat.

I know I know. Please don't share the other items on your boat though until It is released by Tige

Its really a neat item to have in a big 23/25. Its not needed but it doesn't mean it isn't awesome to have and use. I was freaking people out in the packed harbor as I waited for Dave to grab his truck. I sat there spinning it forward and backwards in and around boats and people couldn't believe it.

Nothing major coming for 2021 so no need to put off getting a boat now if your dealer has a nice 2020 sitting. We have been outfitting EZ drive thrusters on stuff for a while. Just did a 23RZX last week. Same thruster etc.

Hmm. Help me understand how one thruster on the stern of the boat can help docking.

I’m not sure I understand your question. Just about every stern thruster I have ever seen is the same, with the ability to assist in maneuvering the stern to port or starboard. As Germaine Marine said above, it’s similar to EZ Thrusters. A couple of the other large boat manufacturers are already using them. I would recommend going on their site and taking a look. https://www.ezdrivethruster.com/

I've looked at the site, thanks. What was hard to visualize was how one thruster on the stern could consistently dock a boat. I guess retrofitting after delivery is an option, but I'd want to hear from those who have it first.

I just don't see how a thruster is needed. I mean its a 25 foot boat not a yacht. My 14 year old just received her boating license and I taught her how to dock our 25ZX last weekend. I guess if it comes on the boat why not but I wouldn't be paying 5K for a thruster I'd buy 5K worth of surfboards!

I think you have a point on docking. It’s doable without thrusters for sure - just learn your boats nuance.

I will say that at low speeds, vdrive boats steer like a drunk person in a crosswalk. I can see value in being able to spin quickly in a tight marina with a lot of wind. My boat will absolutely not turn if you lose too much momentum.

It’s like seat heaters and wake surf remotes - need em? Nah. Buy a towel. Want em? Hell yes.

At this point I agree with akdoc and BrentP. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I don't think it's worth the extra coin.

We have a tight launch ramp that requires a backwards-left turn to exit the ramp area. Since my boat doesn't go backwards and to the left, I pull it off with a quick spin and exit. When the ramp is busy and/or the wind is blowing, it can get a little messy. I think a stern thruster would be helpful in these situations.

For me, it’s all about the wind. If no wind, there’s no problem maneuvering in tight spots. But a little wind from the wrong direction makes it hard and 20mph really makes maneuvering hard.
