There were kind of a handful of issues on these early years that can cause this. First thing I'd do is pull the post cat 02 on the same bank and inspect the cat thru the hole/bung the post cat sits in. Some cat bricks disintegrated because of a vendor issue and would cause water reversion and it collects at the bottom of the exhaust manifold to cat pipe connection.
The other issue is the spacing/distance between the cat pipe and the Y pipe. Look at your boots. If they are the "hump" type boots I'd suspect a possible issue. If it's just straight blue hose those were less problematic in my experience
