    Looking at buying 2008 Z1

I am looking for pros/cons of the 2008 Z1. I have owned a 2003 moomba outback for the last 10yrs and am moving to a v drive. Mainly used to cruise around lake and wakeboard/surf. I have found a very nice 08 Z1 and have a test drive set. Looking for any advice or experience with this boat.

I personally love that little boat. Some said it didn't surf that well but I cannot confirm that since it was out before taps3 and surf systems. Hopefully others will chime in on how to set it up for surf. Its shallow like most boats from that era. Handles very well, layout is great and easy to work on. I like the Marine Power engine in it and those walter vdrives are pretty bulletproof. Simple switches, gauges and cruise control. Still one of the best styled ski boats ever made IMO.
    Oh Yeah!

cousin had one back in the day. said it didn't surf as well as his 22ve that it replaced. he is in the hunt for another boat and is passing on z1's going back to the rz2/22ve hull.
no tigetouch would be a plus for me.
      good luck with the hunt....

I own an 08 Z1. I have tweaked for years on finally getting the wave as best as I can and it is DEFINITELY surfable! Here are my suggestions.
              - As much weight as you can in both rear lockers. I have custom bags in mine to maximize weight. As much weight as possible up front as well.
              - Use a shaper. After much experimenting I have found the Mission Echo works awesome. This is key because most will not stick to the bottom of the Z1 as the surface where you need to stick it is curved. The Echo sticks and is probably the nicest looking, lightest, best floating shaper out there.
              - Acme 1235 prop.
              - Taps at 7 or 8 works best for me.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the replies. I am sure I will have more questions after we get the boat.
