life jacket for 5 month old

I am looking at infant life jackets and I see they are all "up to 30 lbs". My daughter will be 5 months by the time we will get her out on the lake and I am guessing she will be around 12 lbs at that point, she is maybe 10 right now, she is a little one. My question is have you guys found a particular infant jacket that is better for the littler babies? Here are some on Overton's that I am looking at.

In a brief read of the reviews it sounds like this one might be the best for such a small baby, although it may only last this season. I like that is has a mesh bottom versus the single strap because my daughter is so small.

Of course this one is my favorite, just because it is CWB and cool. Maybe for next summer...

As always your advice is greatly appreciated.

Webbing might be a good idea if she is on the small side.

We took Jake on his first boat ride at 5 mos w vest like 14076 and worked great for nearly 2 yrs. Strap was good too. We'd also take his car seat and strap that in the boat n order to ski. He's 9 now. Jim

You are on the right track. At 12#s nothing fits very well. All the infant styles have the big floating piece behind their head to keep it above the water. She will look miserable in it, but safe.

thanks guys. I seems like it will come down to what jacket fits her small size best. Probably order a couple different ones and just send back what does not work.

We just took our little one on her first boat ride a couple of weekends ago at 3 weeks old. We had her in the same type of life jacket you are talking about. It looked and seemed uncomfortable, but she slept just about the whole time. The honly thing to watch for is that the straps for under the leg are able to tighten enough to be effective. Otherwise, I think the "up to 30 lbs jacket" would be fine.

Got mine last year at costco. HO Sports

I just picked up a 30 lbs one from Sam's Club for $20.00. I think its a body glove.
