Guys my boat is ready to make a road trip and I need to know if any of you with a Z1 travel with a mooring cover or should I jsut travel without it? I have always traveled without covers so I don't have a sail slowing me down or flapping against the gel coat but I was told that it should not flap and would be fine. I don't want to buy a travel cover as I won't need it again after this trip. Any help would be great... I can't wait to hit the water!!!

I never traveled anywhere without a cover on my boat. But it was also a custom job and made for it... It never failed when I went somewhere it would rain and the cover keeps all the goodies I would put in the boat clean and dry, not too mention the boat clean...
Not sure what a mooring cover is. There are quite a few threads on here, that say the new stock tige covers are very nice and everyone trailers with it...Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

I have towed many miles with my bow and cockpit covers to keep rain and junk out. I don't have any issues with gelcoat scratching. I have towed about 3800 miles with the bow and cockpit covers on my Tige and prior to Tige about 10K on my Fourwinns with Bow and cockpit covers and no cover issues or gelcoat problems.

my boat got trailered to the west coast in back in a blizzard and rain storm with my cover and no gel coat scratching except one flap in the blizzard from all the sand on the road. but it buffed out. My boat was black bottom white top....

Just an update... traveled with the cover 700 miles and a couple of things happened. First is the U shaped zipper that covers the fuel opening would not stay closed, so after closing it 10 times it started to rip and not does not cover my fuel opening that well anymore. Also with all of the flapping in the wind ( it was windy that day approx. 30 MPH) I lost one of my air breathers on the top of the cover, must not have been attached that well. It just figures something would happen. Not what to do... Glad to have it, just need the snow to stop...

I only travel with a cover on when it is raining. I do not want my cover flapping all over the place. When it is not raining out it also helps air out/dry the boat. I take out as many cushions as possible to make sure none fly away and it also allows me to get air to the rear trunks."You're rather attractive for a beautiful girl with a great body."
