    Storage Questions...

I'm looking at a temporary storage solution that I will not be able to inspect myself before I book it. The place is out of town, but in a sweet location, and only has one spot left so I need to act fast. (I have a 2010 RZ2)

    1) Will my boat fit in a unit with an 8ft. garage door with the tower down? (I assume there is no chance with it up) The other dimensions are 10ft. wide and 30 ft. long.

    2) I have the factory cover. Is there any way to store the boat with the cover on and the tower down? (I'd like to do anyting I can to keep critters out.)

    3) Any other issue I should be concerned about?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks, guys! I'll give a full report of air & water temps plus possible pictures of us on Norris Lake after the weekend.

the cover should prob fit with the tower down, but prob will not fit over the swim platform.

I used to use a 10ft wide one, then upgraded to a 13ft wide one. I loved the 13ft wide one as it made it so much easier to back it in. On my boat the tower down would BARELY fit in an 8ft door, not sure on your model...

oh yeah I never put my cover on except on long storage periods so that way the boat could air out...

First off...water temp at Norris was around 62 yesterday (and about 11' below summer pool)...I want pics of your face when (if) you jump in!

30' deep is plenty. 10' wide is fine, but Dom is correct in that it will be tight trying to get around the boat. I'm not sure on height. Go out and measure your boat from the top of the windshield to the ground and see if that is less than 8'. If so, you are fine...otherwise it's too low.

To me, it sounds like it is storage to get by with for a short time while you find something a little larger (assuming the height fits).

I don't recall the pictures of your cover, but I know on mine I can fold the tower down with the cover on...you should be able to.

Hope this helps...have fun! (BTW...I'm probably taking my boat down in two weeks or so).

i used to have a 10 ft wide and it doesn't leave for much error, it also depends how much room you have in front, if you can pull and straighten out it makes it much easier then ifyou have to come in at an angle. I upgraded to a 13 foot wide and it rocked!! also allowed for storage racks on the side so I could pull everything out of the boat to dry and what not inbetween runs!

Here are some numbers for you. I have a 09 RZ2 on a boatmate trailer. My garage opening is 10ft wide and 9ft tall. With tower up I am short by about 1-2", so with tower up you would be about 9'2", with tower down, yo should be well under 8ft but measure to be sure. It is tight to get in the garage but with practice you get used to it as far as the width is concerned. I ran 2 strips of black duct tape on the floor all the way back to help keep the trailer straight in the garage, with it being so tight it can be real PITA if the trailer is crooked and the next time you hook up you are not lined up straight. As far as clearance you should have about 9" from each wheel to the side of the opening however the guide poles will only have about 3" on each side. Here is a pic of mine just outside of a 10 ft wide opening.

thanks for the help! I think it will be ok. This is only a one or two month fix until we get a lift put in the slip. I would prefer not to have a reason to participate in the gel coat blistering thread.
