That's a tough one. Before getting my Tige, I was trying to work a deal on a Mastercraft X-35. After talking to some MC owners, I decided I needed the larger of their engines (400 I think)...not their 350. I didn't get the MC because of price.
In the RZ2, it was different. All seemed to think the smaller engine (the 343) would be fine...and they were right.
Since you are asking about a Malibu, you might want to try the Malibu owners site. I'm not sure of the name of the site, but a number of the guys on here frequent it.

Personally, if you're thinking of another brand besides Tige, I would seriously consider Nautique or Mastercraft over Malibu. I've ridden in all 3 and own and '07 RZ2. Lord knows I've had issues with my RZ, but they were dealer related. I thought the ride in the Malibu was the worst of the 4. If I were to get a boat besides a Tige, I would go with a Nautique Super Air 220. That is an amazing boat and the build quality is second to none.
Obviously, you're going to get 15 different opinions from 15 different people. Go test drive them all, crawl around the inside and look at the build quality, and (MOST IMPORTANTLY) buy from a GOOD dealer. I bought from a scumbag dealer (Grand Lake Boat Sales) and had a equally crappy dealer service the boat (Xtreme Marine). Luckily, Xtreme Marine no longer carries Tige, only Malibu.
If it weren't for the support I got from Harvey Smith at the factory, I would have sold my Tige last summer and bought a Nautique. A good friend of mine with a brand new Mastercraft X-Star had bad vinyl issues and got ZERO help from the factory.
Good luck with your decision, whatever it may be. Besides, they're all great boats.

Have you talked to Harvey Smith at the factory? Other than a few dealers (TN Tige-rip, and Forte's Marine, among a few others)I wouldn't trust what a dealer says. But hey, I had a terrible experience dealer wise.

We liked the Tige dealer a lot better than the MC dealer and the Tige was considerably less expensive. That's the short version of why we ended up in the Tige. Oh...also the folks on this site were the best of any of the other sites... I'm happy with my purchase so far...
Obviously true about the vastly different opinions!!! Do you work for Big Brown in Looneyville by chance?

I dont own a 2010 RZ2 but I have a 2007 RZ2 with 400 hours on it and its still looks and runs just as the day that I took ownership of it. I have never had any issues with it. Every year Tigé improves its quality and innovation so a lot has changed in a few years. Have you had a chance to test drive a 2010 RZ2?

I was wondering what you based build quality of the nautique over others, we have had more hull issues, electronics, ballast, and drivabilty problems with CC then the others, with the same hours and usage.
Our dealership maintains an equal amount of the big name brands, we have 5 nautiques in for repairs right now, also drive a 220 under same conditions as an RZ2, you will experence sluggish performance and steering with occasional rudder stall and terrible fuel economy , these were a just a few reasons why CC disscontinued the 220.
