    RTFM

You should be turning O/D off when towing so it doesn't do that.
    Waiting for another good one!

If I'm driving in the city under 55mph, O/D off it will still upshift way too early and start lugging. My 2003 was before the Tow/haul mode. Or is my tranny just on its way out?

kx250frider617 im not sure that your tranny is acting right! What happens if you accelerate alittle faster? Does that problem go away?

It also down shits early, but the problem with tow haul... well lets start with the "4L60E transmission" its a 4 speed with lock up (lock-up lowers RPM in over drive. Now to the probelm- in tow haul it goes strait to 4 gear LOCK-UP, and that lowers the RPM, and makes it down shift all the time. Why does it do that??? My guess is because in 4th gear NOT LOCKED UP you have slippage under a load, and we all know slppage= heet, and heet kills transmissions.
I had a six speed tranny......

If I accelerate, it downshifts and runs like a bat outta hell. My problem is I can't maintain a steady speed. Maybe I'm used to towing with diesels were Im not used to letting the motor run high R's constantly.

Im used to driving a f-350 dually 6.0 with a 40ft bumper pull show trailer for work.

Is your truck lifted or have a different size tire other than stock?

It's only leveled with 34's. Stock came with 33's so not a huge difference.

Ive had this complaint from quite a few Hemi truck guys, my 5.9l tows fine at all speeds, I think the Hemi doesnt have the torque curve at the right rpm, the tranny shift is dictated by engine torque, which is monitored by map readings or mass air flow dropping at a specified rpm , than ecm downshifts to get optimun power.

You might see if any company offers a reflash for different power curve.
