    VHF Radio

Does anybody carry a VHF radio in their boat? I am thinking about purchasing a handheld and wanted opinions if anyone has one.

yup, but it is one I had on my previous fishing boat.

I keep a handheld on my boat, mostly to have at Powell to communicate with the houseboat. The biggest problem is range with all the rock, canyon walls, etc. I would love to see a slick set-up for an easy install and removal for a decent sized antenna. This would easily mount to the top of the tower and give some real range, rather than the line of sight.

No, but the movie UHF with Wierd Al is very funny.

I bought two handhelds for my two Jet Skis and they work great.

They are waterproof, float and have GPS coordinates to place your location in case of emergency. At Lake Powell I put one in the boat one with the Jet skis and they houseboat has a hard wired radio.
