New RZ2 or RZ4 Vs. Malibu Towers

On the new RZ models they have the black tower that resemble the Malibu illusion towers. Problem is that when you have speakers hanging they just hang to low and you can get a face full of speaker soemtimes.
My buddy has a 23 LSV Bu and he has the wetsounds speakers. I hit my head so many times on those things its just stupid how low the tower hangs. Not to mention any speakers just seem to hang to low

On the new RZ2, RZ4 models does this problem exist with the new towers?

The Tige Alpha Z does more then resemble the Bu Illusion, they came out of the same facility, so yes, the tower is low just like the Illusion.

If headroom is a deciding factor, the RZ boats can be ordered with either the E- or Z- series towers instead of the Alpha-Z.

If your concerned, you can mount the speakers on the outside or the top of the tower with a little work.

I would dare say it would be a lot of work to go outside the stock mounting holes. You could not just drill a hole and tap it, it needs some inner reinforcement.

I called and you cannot get a Z tower anymore. It costed more, but I think it was the best tower tige ever made.
          Be excellent to one another.

Hmmm...someone at Tige may want to update their online 2010 options list, then.

I agree it would be very difficult to mount speakers in other areas than designed. Has anyone put anything besides Wetsounds on these new towers? Do other mount? Malibu has the other hoop bar where the ropes hooked that offered another option. Even other board racks on the new Tige tower seem to be a problem (Stuck with the factory pair).

I really liked the E tower. The older Z Tower looked good, but I do not think it was as stable as the E I had.

I have Samson speakers installed. They have quarter inch inputs to the tower and swivel. They can be taken off as there are no cables to disconnect. Very slick. I'm 5'11" and don't seem to have height issues.IMG_0212.JPG

Thats exactly why I like my Z tower. I never have to duck my head with the bimini down or with Wetsounds hanging from the tower.

I don't have any speakers on my Alpha Z yet, but when it was displayed at the boat show, the dealer put a couple of Wetsounds Pro 80s on it for display purposes and put them on the outside points. Those 80s are huge, but they hang to the outside enough that they are out of the way for people walking from the lounge to bow area. I'm 6'0" and didn't seem to have a problem because of how far they are set to the outside. If you buy the larger speakers but just get two so that you can leave room for walking through the center, you may still get the performance you want, a great look, and avoid the hassle of ducking too much. The problem is when you want to put enough performance in the stereo to be heard about a mile away. If that's your thing, and you are tall, the Alpha Z may not be for you. For me, my wife won't allow it so it is not an issue.

Also, I have the opinion that the lines and look created by the Alpha Z is unmatched in the industry and outweighs the annoyance, but I understand there are many that don't share that opinion.

Another option would be to order the boat without a tower and add a Samson Razor. It has a 3" diameter like the Z.

No no.... you through bolt it. Me and Tim actually discussed this about a year ago. It's possible, and not that complicated.

yeah those new towers are to low. They look real nice but they need to built taller. I wonder if they will fix this in the years to come;/

If the AlphaZ was any taller, it wouldn't be able to fold down inside the windshield. It would come down on top of the windshield and therefor, it would be a good 10-12" higher then the other tower in the folded position.
