    Banks Power Marine Diesel

I dont know if this has been mentioned here, but I did do a search..

Banks now offers a "GM Approved" Marine Duramax 6600 turbodiesel. I'd really like to see Tigé offer this as a powerplant option. My question is for the guys at Tigé- What are the chances of getting this as an option for 2011 or 2012?

There's some ballast for ya! Wonder how much it weighs? I think a regular Duramax's dry weight is almost 850lbs and for 2011, GM added 40 lbs of mass to the block or something along those lines.

Imagine the exhaust and sound coming outta that thing not to mention cost?!?! Torque would be incredible though.

LOL, it would be hilarious to see someone put the vertical stack chrome exhaust pipes onto a tige. Maybe run them up the tower?? Just add a longhorn bone on the front of the boat and the transformation would be complete.
Seriously though..500+ hp, good efficiency and crazy amounts of torque would be fantastic.

I wonder how much that puppy is going to cost.

Crazy expensive but very cool! My only concern would be the soot and smell factor while riding?

New diesels arent quite as loud as their predecessors. Also, running biodiesel (which is the point here) would smell like french fries.

MC offers a diesel option. IIRC, it is the VW diesel. I don't think anyone has any real experience with it because so few people get it. I think it is something like a 30K upgrade. Many marinas don't have diesel fuel, so some people would not get it for that reason alone.

                      A lot!

Who's going to do the test engineering?

The data I got was they built 16 boats with the vw diesel and 7 blew their engines and MC is looking at Yanmar , which is who oringinally did all the early testing.

The test engineering for MC obviously was the customer.

a diesel engine makes more sense for power and fuel efficiency and they are more environmentally friendly than most gas engines. You can drive a diesel forever too!! So 1000 hours on a diesel engine would be NOTHING...It wouldn't need to be V10 diesel just a nice 6 cylinder diesel that would produce as much hp as gas but totally kill it in torq.... I don't think the extra 30,000 is a fair price I would do maybe 5000 but definitely not 30,000.... Don't diesels run cooler too?

Maybe that is why they don't talk about them at all on TMCowners.com. haha!
