ballast options

looking for advice for adding ballast to my 22v any suggestions would be appreciated

Take a look at the Rival system. It is quick, works perfectly and is reasonably priced. Sorry if this sounds like a commercial, but it is the best aftermarket system out there. Otherwise you can buy bags and fill them manually with pumps and hoses over the side.

I did a rival with custom bags. It is the only way to go. I have 600 Lbs of lead, plus 2x250 up front, and 700s in the rear. Works out nicely.

With that said if you have 30 spare minutes every time you go to the lake, you can manually fill and empty sacks. I did this last year. It sucks.

My set up is almost identical with 2x400# bags in the back, 5x65# carpeted lead bars (I put 3 up front and keep 2 on the floor for trim, and 2x175# bags in front.
Where or how do you get more weight in the front or are they not hidden? My front bags are basically round and long and set under the front seats and extend into the nose area. I can't figure how to get more weight up there without using the floor. I recently set an additional 400# in the front and the wake was crazy. It was cleaner, steeper and more solid. Everyone that hit it just got these stupid grins on their faces. I can see that I need the extra weight in front, but how to do it without lead or bags on the floor is my problem.

A friend of mine posted this about the U shaped bag in the front of hist 22v. I have not been out to see it yet, but the initial reports are the wake is insane with his current set up.

Cheeky, I'm sure alot of people would be interested in purchasing that bag. You should tell your friend to get on it and start selling some. I'd buy one for sure.

Lead Ballast

I have a 2005 24V I am thinking of more weight on the nose. I have the center bow cushion and would like to stuff some weight in there. I love the side storage. I am thinking lead is the heaviest and would take the least amount of room. I know there are lead bars, where do you get them? I also was thinking what about a canvas type bag with lead bb's or something similar? Do you cover the lead bars with carpet or what?

I have some lead bars that I just painted with truck bedliner type paint. The lead is a little painstaking. You can get lead from the local indoor rifle range or a tire shop that uses lead pieces for balancing tires. I had a brother in law melt down a bunch for me for Christmas and pour it into brownie pans. A lead brick about 12 x 10 x 1.5 inches weighs over 50 pounds. I don't really like melting lead myself, something about mental retardation, seizures and the like with lead poisoning just turns me off. Make sure you have good ventilation.

I've seen people put the small lead pieces into other containers (like old bleach containers) and that works well, but the density is not quite as much.
