    Be careful here. If for some reason (hopefully not) you have major damage because of a blow out or just a tire failure, the tires that you have may not be rated for trailers. Insurance company may not support your claim. The tire manufacturer may also not help you becuase of a misapplication. Tires that go on trailers have a trailer rating. Car tires are not. That is not to say that they won't function. Just be mindful that this may become an issue.

        An insurance company denying a claim because you have pimp rims and tires sounds like at bit of a stretch.

          I have been through this before. There are trailer tires and passenger car and truck tires. They are different and marked as such as a part of their label with the size on the sidewall. Trailer tires end with "TR" while for example light trucks end with "LT". If non-trailer tires are used on trailers they must be derated 25% off of their load ratings. My Extreme trailer came with 4 tires and a spare each rated at 1440# or 5760# total. When one had to be replaced, the tire store pointed out that when my "LT" tires were derated 25% the total capacity became only 4329#. The boat was 3940#, the trailer about 1100# and at least 500# for gas and gear for a total of 5540#. I eventually got Extreme to replace the 4 tires and I paid for the spare. I don't remeber all the details but there are DOT regulations and I pushed the trailer mfgr assn guidelines in their faces until they admitted they made a mistake. Most importantly, I noticed a big improvement in the quality of the ride with the trailer tires. They have a stronger sidewall and have less flex and bounce.

              Nobody you really need to be around 1800-2200 for that trailer.... Your way to high, that's why it's not selling. Doesn't matter what you think the rims, etc. add to the value. I actually looked at it when you first posted it up, but then I saw your price...lol. FYI... boatmate sells their overstocks sometimes around $2500.... just to give you reference.

              As for the trailer tire vs. car tire argument... I will never buy another trailer w/ trailer tires again. The ride is so much better with the low profile car tires. I've instantly seen less de-treading and blow-outs by running car tires. I don't care what the experts say, I'm starting to believe the car tires are just built better as a pure safety matter. Think about it.... companies get sued if a car tires fails and causes a fatal accident. Usually if a trailer tire fails, you get a damaged fender and that's about it. Think about how many times we hear about people having blow-outs with their trailers....I don't really hear this on the boat trailers sporting car tires (not saying it doesn't happen).

                    I think if you are running 14" or 15" wheels and tires on your trailer then you might want to stick to trailer tires because they supposedly have stiffer sidewalls on a trailer tire. If you are running 17"+ on the trailer, I think car tires are just fine because those are going to have the stiff sidewall and a higher load capacity. The Goodyear Eagle GT II's that are on my trailer are just over 2,000 lbs capacity each.

Starting price on a Boatmate trailer is 5.6K (or higher), then add LED lights, backup light, swing away tongue, extra axle, spare, pimp rims, pimp tires, blah blah blah.....and everything else. $2500 trailers was pre 2002/2003. It's 2010....everything has doubled execpt salaries.

                        I'm wondering if were going to see $3.00 a gallon again this summer.

                          I'll have to agree...I don't think many boat owners on this site would even consider taking $1800 - $2200 for their trailer. I bought a new Boatmate 22' tandem last summer and wish I could have got one for $2500 or even $4000.

                            But to the OP, I do understand the fact that you have to replace them all, so why not drop a bit more coin. Also with larger rims you are adding weight and loosing some brake power. I think the 16s are a good balance, I like my 14s . You mentioned that one tire was thrashed from a tow...how is the opposing tire? You might want to check your axle too, if a wheel was hit so hard to bend it, you might have additional issues. It would suck to put brand new wheels on only to find 100 miles down the road the tire looks the same.

                              Along the same lines with the grage clearance, with the taller tires/wheels, it will make it a little more difficult to unload/load having to go deeper in the water. Not an issue with a steep conrete dock, but would be for a beach launch.

                                I do know what a new trailer sells for, but your not selling a new trailer. Your dealing in a used commodity that not many people have use for. Also it is very boat specific at that. I realize new that trailer goes around 8-10K. Hell, pull up your Nada value for it. You do not get half of what a trailer is worth, like your trying to get. Like I said.... Just last year Boatmate had 5 of their trailers that were considered "overstock" that sold for $2500 a piece... now they were tandom axle, but it was their bling bling trailer. There's a reason you haven't sold it in a year of trying! LOL. But I do wish you luck, at least you've changed your ways on here! Personally, I'd keep it if I were you! You'll want it come time to sell the boat!

                                I stand corrected.... I pulled up the NADA for you, and your right in line. I still don't think it'll move at that price.... but you never know! LOL
