I used to have a helmet when we owned the 22V. I sold it on ebay and then bought our Avy a short time later. I bought some Pro 80's for our tower and there is no way I am going to drown out the sound with a helmet.
I like hearing the music while I am wakeboarding and living on the edge when I wakeboard. If I were riding a sky ski I would definately wear a helmet.

I didn't read the entire thread, because this argument is somewhat old.

I always chime in on these threads that I have taken hard falls with and without the helmet and I wear the helmet. I don't buy the idea that the helmet would actually cause more trauma. Never, ever heard a first hand story of the bucket handle theory either. You would have to fall on your face with your feet pointed at the boat.

But rather than start another argument, I think the best thing is to wear one until you take a hard fall and compare it to your last hard fall. Many people end up wearing one after that.

There have been deaths while wakeboarding due to second impact syndrome (do an internet search), and I am sure they would not have happened while wearing a helmet.
      Be excellent to one another.

Early last summer during one of the first sessions of the year I was going for a backroll. I had made a couple that day so I was feeling pretty good. Just before I launched I spotted a piece of driftwood...through off my approach. I don't remember much after that. I came to floating face down in the water...anyway... 14 stitches, concussion, bruised ribs, black eye (no idea how that happened), imflamed kidney and major back spasms for a week. I wear a helmet now...so does everybody in my boat. In fact the whole group of us that learned together over the years do now as well...not just the newbies.

I am somewhat new here, but I believe I read somewhere or saw on an instructional dvd that if the boat is doing 21+ mph, when you cut across the wake for your trick you are doing 35-40 mph. So when you crash and don't land that trick you are moving rather fast.

I have not worn a helmet in the past. 2 of my my crew do after on of them had a severe injury with blown ear drum and concussion a few years back.

Now, that I have a Tige and plan on steeping up my game this summer, I am seriously thinking of adding a helmet or two to the boat.

I would Dave, even at the end of the summer I still wasn't at where I was when I had the wreck (skill wise). Of course the helmet wouldn't have helped with the ribs and stuff...But it would have saved a lot of stitches and the concussion. It wasn't much fun, but definetly made a helmet believer out of me

If that were the case I would not have had 12K of damage to my boat. .

I am a Pro-Tech dealer and tried to get a group buy put together last year. Know one was interested at the time. If you guys want to do this again I can certainly attempt it. I never did make a purchase from the distributor so I don't even know if they will work with me on this again but I sure can check into it.

If you are truly a dealer, why would you not be able to place an order at regular dealer cost? If you just bought 1 or 2 last year for personal use, then that be be an issue
