    Protection while towing

Was wondering if anyone uses any type of removable mud flaps for towing to keep debris from getting kicked up and possibly nicking the hull.

    Am I being too anal?

I bought a mudflap bar from Sportmans Wharehouse that bolts onto the male end of the hitch. Works really great.

Sometimes you can find ones that are made for your vehicle that look stock.

Or you can buy those hoosier ones.

Or also you can buy a big bra for the trailer.

Here is a link to a thread that contained some different information on mudflaps.

I love these Rock tamers and will not tow my boat with out them.

I have a homemade set very similar to the rock tamers. With some metal stock and a welder, they can be built very easily. A friend lost his windsheild on his boat the other summer because of a rock thrown up from the back tire.

If I am towing a $50,000 boat, they will be on to protect my investment. Better yet, an enclosed trailer would best, lol.

Thanks guys, glad to see I am not the only wanting to keep my boat as pristine as the day I pick(ed) it up.

Didn't realize they would cost quite that much, but that peace of mind will be great.

You want the ultimate protection. Try www.rockgard.com Never get a chip ANYWHERE on your boat & trailer. I had one on my Avalanche Centurion now i am getting one for my 09' RZ2.

                            Mudflap pics

Here are some pics of my home made mud flaps. I did not make them though. A friend of mine made these for a dodge pick up. I had a local fab shop add the gusset braces, riser and locking bolt to hold them still and work for my ford.

I guess I should've pulled into the sun more but you get the idea. The first pic makes them look real wide but they are not. Only as wide as tires.
