    Perfect Boating Food

I had my first uneventfull trip out yesterday. Everything worked as expected. I was just wondering what is everyones favorite boat food. We go out and stay in the boat for the whole evening, no beaching the Tige'. We had some friends along and had hoagies, chips, and soda. All good eats, but the kids had crumbs and chips everywhere. I am not the type to get upset at that. I just clean up quietly back at home, but we've discovered twizzlers are great and tidy. We also order Fruit 2 O by the case and love the basic water when playing hard. Some folks need the soda or adult soda. What's your favorite?? and Why???

PS for the Utah folks Willard Bay is full and water temp is a balmy 62' and was calm all night along the dike. The bugs are out at sunset though.
My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.

I feel sorry for you having to take your boat out in the swamp! Come down to the clear and warm water!!!

I like most foods, but definitely avoid Cheetos, the orange dye can be pretty intense on the vinyl. I've accepted chips all over as a necessary evil. I have a friend who takes a small propane stove and has burgers and dogs on the beach. I'm looking forward to trying that some.
    Be excellent to one another.

My pet peeve is the sunflower seeds. One day of sunflower seeds and I keep finding the darn shells in every nook and crany for months afterwards.

Soda invariably spills when the boat is moving - What are you going to do?

I always carry a bottle of vinyl cleaner and a rag in the boat. When something spills, I clean it up right away and then I don't have to worry about it any more. Everyone still has a good time.

Great topic! Man am I ready for some lake time......

Glad to know I'm not the only one who hates crumbs and mess all over my boat. It's tough for kids to eat anything without making a bit of a mess, and I don't like making everyone miserable by fussing about it, but I get miserable when my boat is a mess! I remember going nuts watching the neighbor's kid pick at a hoagie roll and make a pile of crumbs that later got mashed and soaked into the carpet. Blech!

Talltigeguy - some strange orange stains appeared on one of my seat cushions late last season. I've been very puzzled about what it is - I think you just explained it with the Cheetos. Any recommendations to remove?

Mixed nuts make a great snack with a lot less mess than chips.
Celery and carrots, grapes, and diced cheese and sliced pepperoni are good too. Good energy foods, and with a little prep before hand all of the mess can be minimized. Although I'm lucky - my wife usually does all of the kitchen prep while I'm getting the gas and toys loaded into the boat.

              Thanks,

I must have picked up something else.
I use Fantastik all the time, whatever this was it didn't touch it.

I kind of wonder if somebody was using a self-tanning suntan lotion and got it on the cushion....

beware of pretzel crumbs, doesn't mix well in the carpet with a little bit of water and time to dry. F.Y.I.

If someone has something messy to eat they eat it on the swimstep. The crumbs feed the fish and not the carpet.

Definetely stay away from the Cheetos. Also avoid DingDongs - my kids had crumbs all over the place.
We usually mix up some chicken salad in a container and bring a loaf of bread. Also a bag of veggies and some dip. Beer is also a good idea (unless your driving of course).

Nothing to post. Editing a post that went in the wrong message thread.

I agree with Tige MD, my flavor of choice would be beam, and a little coke!!! String cheese and beef jerky!!! And for the ladies some twizlers and wine coolers. Also Busch Lite is a great out on the boat beer with Bob Marley's greatest hits playin in the cd player. Fun Times await!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                            Around here:

                            Bud/Miller = Lake Beer

Busch/Natty = River beer (canoe trips)

Both are great, just different beer for different situations.

                            Food:

"Go put those Cheetos back in the car before I kick your A**"

                            Grapes, celery, beef jerky, carrots.

Anything else gets eaten on the Swim deck, or you better know how to use a shop vac.
"I want to know God's thoughts, the rest are just details"

I'm with Jeff on the veggies, they keep great in the cooler and the kids have a hard time making a mess with them.

Now a friend has a pontoon that we usually trash while eating wings, dips, and all sorts of snackatizers.
