Looks... I would go with the Z1, I have a 20V and I thought it was too small to began with. I have a RZ2 and love it. I liked the wake on the 20V but never saw a wake on a Z1 yet. Maybe someone can post some pics.

IMO its all about the wake in the end. The boat can look sick but if you don't like the wake then your really not going to be 100% happy no matter the cost.

It can also be modified slightly. I know that MoneyPity had his trailer modified to lower the height of the bunks some.
dingleberry is correct. I had to lower my boat three inches to fit in a standard garage door opening which is in the 83.5" to 83.75" in my area. I did not even think about the height until they finally got my boat on the first custom I needed done and that was to get the overall length from TAPS plate to the longest point on bow to 20'5". When we looked at it on that trailer I looked at the front pivot of the e-series tower and realized I had a second issue. The high point of the pivot was over 2 inches higher than my opening. The trailer company had to take off the boat and lower all the bunks by 3 inches. good news is that it worked with about 3/4" to 1 inch of clearance depending how I was backing up my sloped driveway and angling the boat into the middle slot of my 3 car garage.

In 2008 I screwed up and ran my Jeep and boat under a car port to avoid getting hit by a driver coming out of a Nursing home lot.I instinctively went to the carport drive to avoid getting hit in the nose or side of my Jeep. My e-series tower was scrap at that point so I called state farm got them a quote to replace tower and I had put on a Sampson Razor not thinking about clearance. After it was installed and I retrieved the boat I was not sure what I was going to do if it did not clear. It has about 1/2" to 3/4" clearance when I lowered the Samson Razor tower. I have to position my slalom ski (old school) rack into the correct position and all works out. I have to figure out a way to warn me if it is not going to clear because I go out for an afternoon into Southern,WI and I have no one to watch that clearance. Some sort of trip alarm is what I will do. Going back to the original part of the thread drive both of them. The Z1 is bigger and will seat at least 1-2 more peeps than the 20V. The Z1 is not an option I can fit in garage and I cannot and will not store outside when it is not being used. Drive them both and go from there. Good luck and welcome to the site.

There is not even a question which one to buy if you are concerned with the wake. The 20V does not even come close to the wake on the Z1.

I don't surf but, the wakeboard wake behind my 20v is pretty good IMO.

Well, I just ran out to my garage to measure the lowest point of my garage. The lowest point is 81.75 and my 08 Z1 fits in my garage just fine. The only problem I do have is it takes either two people to do it or you will have to cut a 2x6 to prop the tower so it sits flat. Basically, when you lower the tower the section of the tower that folds down ends up higher then what I can fit into my garage. My wife used to sit in the boat when I backed it up and lifted the tower up to make sure we wouldn't hit. Now all I do is prop up the tower with the 2x6 and it is all good! It is by a hair, but I don't have to pay for storage!!!

I know that sounds like a pain and I hope you can picture what I am talking about, but it is so worth it.

Depending on the year you are looking at, I am pretty sure the 20v has the same tower so you may be looking at the same issue no matter which one you go with.

I don't have ballast in my boat yet and the wake is sweet. I am getting some sacs in a week or so to make it mo betta.

            Hope this helps.

Where in H-town are ya from?

Like Dave said, check out Texas Tige. Those guys rock.

I am happy with the 20V. We don't board so wake height is not the issue and from what the slalom skiers have said the wake at the normal 15 off is better than the MC we have skied behind since 1999. The Z1 is a nice boat but the 20V meets my needs and for less money at the time I was buying. Both boats have their pro's and cons and the 100" beam helps the Z1 which will give the bow a larger feeling. We rarely have had more than 6 people on board when out skiing. The non skiers typically found it nice to relax at the doc and relax over the years
