    FAE Quick Release?

I ordered my FAE a back in Dec & they will be shipping in a few weeks. Now is the time for any upgrades if I want them.

Should I get the quick release for the FAE?

I rarely ever take the swim step off & for an extra $38.00 is it worth it?

Thanks for any advice & input.

IF you take your platform on and off I would spend the $38 just to make it easier. If it was real expensive then I would not buy it but $38 to make it easier is a no Brainwe in my book.

Even if you only remove your swim platform once a year you would benefit from the PQR because the long all-thread bolt used to mount the FAE to the swim platform can be difficult (impossible) to remove once installed.
My fear is the word impossible...anyone get the standard and have to take it off? Is it really impossible???

I have not bought one yet and may never buy one if I am forced due to my situations to sell my 20V but I was going to spend the $38.00

If you look at it in the context in relationship of the boat cost and even the FAE cost it is an in-expensive option that may help in selling boat and for you even if limited in taking off platform.

The long bolt being impossible I don't know who quoted that but if it was treated with rust preventive if it was not a stainless bolt I am sure it could be removed.

Talk to the Larry at FAE. They are straight shooters and will give you the facts.

For what it's worth. I just installed my FAE. I didn't get the quick release option. Sounds silly, but all of my off season upgrades started adding up and the $38 just seemed unnecessary for me since I don't take mine off at all. I think the only reason I would want it would be for resale. I figure if I ever need it, I'll simply buy it then. You don't have to install it at this time.

I do not have the quick release and have taken off the platform several times. It is not impossible just adds a few more minutes to the time it takes. You also have to have a supply of the Teflon nuts. New ones are a must when you reinstall.
              Let it be!!!

I didn't get the quick release either. I take my swim platform off at the end of the year and put it back on in the spring. Haven't had any issues yet. I just plan ahead when putting it back on. Learned this after the 1st year. All my clamps are easy to get to NOW. LOL

Thanks for all the feed back guys, I really appreciate it. I am going to save the $38.00 and put it towards gas.

I have the quick release on my FAE. I only take the deck off a couple of times a year. I would buy them again. It makes storing the deck seperate from the boat a breeze.

Two main benefits of the FAE (Fresh Air Exhaust):
1- Reduces carbon monoxide and other exhaust gas levels in/around boat while underway.
2- Reduces engine exhaust noise (which also allows your stereo system to be heard better).

I don't have FAE, but if I did, I would order it with the quick disconnect.
