Boat Insurance

Hello everyone. I will be getting delivery of the Tige 22Ve that you all helped me find next week... What insurance company do you recommend for insuring the boat? Thank you.

There are alot of variables. When I was shopping around I found the best coverage at the best price through BoatU.S. I went with their yacht policy which is an agreed hull value policy with no depreciation. There are so many variables though you just have to shop around. Try to make sure you are comparing similiar policies.

We like Boat US and have done 3 boats with them. They handled thngs pretty nicely when the Formula 280 was stolen.

BoatUS has treated me right so far. 4 yrs now but have never made a claim either.

Progressive is good. I have reducing deductables went from $500 to $375 becuase I had no claim last year, and will continue to go down if I do not have claim. I was the original/first owner that was a deduct.

just add it onto your home owners or renter's insurance... it should be cheaper that way too I believe

I have State Farm on mine. $300k liability, $70k in coverage + $7k on the trailer and it's $450 a year. I have all of my insurance through State Farm and won't change because they've always taken care of me with any claim, never tried to give me less money or non-oem parts, no hassles at ever. I could probably save a few bucks by going somewhere else but I don't know what will happen if I have a claim with the others.

Most states do not allow anything with an engine, excluding mowers, to be covered under HO's because there is a potential for liability, where as a house will not run a stop sign or crash into you Things that get titles usually need their own policy.

Also, it's a great idea to get a PUP as well. It's a cheap way to keep someone one out of your pocket if a bad boo-boo happens and you are at fault.

if it is brand new - progressive total loss replacement policy
- if it is used then progressive agreed value policy.
you can't go wrong w/either and there is no worry about market value if you do have a catastrophic loss

My vote is for BoatUS. I have had a claim with them and they were very prompt in addressing my needs. Great communication and at less than 350 a year for the "Yacht Policy" it was the best deal I was able to find. Even after my $6000 repair my rate stayed about the same for this year.
