    Polk Tower Speakers??

has anybody had any experiences (good or bad) with polk tower speakers? i'm looking at upgrading my stereo and these have been suggested. i don't want/need the loudest boat on the lake - just something more than the what came from the factory. any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I just got the Aerial Double bullets with the polk db series push +/-100 Rms to each speaker and they are loud and clear for about $450 (speaker and amp). My friend has 4 wetsounds tower speaker with pushing about 100 rms to each. Sitting still they are equally as loud and clear, but the wet sound speakers project the sound better for the person wakeboarding. The other difference is the wet sounds for 4 speakers will run you around $1200 (just speakers).

Polk doesnt actually make a tower speaker. What you are looking at is a Polk Audio cabin speaker loaded into a tower enclosure by either the enclosure manufacturer, or a 3rd party who retails both. Polk makes ok stuff, but to use a cabin speaker on a tower has some limitations, so it really comes down to what your expectations are. If you looking for nice full-range sound in and around the back of the boat, this type of speaker will fit that bill. If you want to be able to hear and enjoy the music while riding, you may be disappointed. These type of speakers can be heard at the end of the tow line, but it takes pushing them to the upper ends of their wattage rating. By time you push a speaker with this type of power, it's worth looking at just stepping up to a pro audio type of speaker.
