    2010 questions

Already planning for a boat upgrade, here are two questions which I can't seem to find.

On the 2010 or any boat with the new Alpha Z tower, has anyone night surfed behind them, can you add more lights, for rear facing illumination.

Also, for clarification, the standard ballast is 900, which the rears are below floor and the front is in storage, how about the 1600lb pro surf, are the rear ballast under floor, or in a storage area. It looks like the 2000lb are in the rear storage locker. I am trying to figure out where the ballast is placed. I read and watch most of the very excellent wake9 write up, answered most other questions.

Like always, thanks for the info.

From what Ragboy has said, I understand it as the surf and pro ballast have the same under floor tanks as the standard ballast, then in addition they have a sac in the storage locker. So the to get the surf ballast, they start with the standard ballast option, then add a sac in the storage locker. To get the pro ballast, they start with the standard, then add a larger sac in the storage locker.

The standard ballast- is 2-250 under floor tanks in the rear and a 400lb sack up front.

The Surf ballast is the above plus 350lb sack in each rear locker.

The pro ballast is the same as the surf except for it has 2 individual 400 lb sacks up front instead of one 400 lb sac.

Yep, that's it. The rear sacs are a custom shape done for Tige, they are kinda a wedge shaped sac. They sit on a false floor/wall that folds them up when not in use. It would be easy to trade it out for a larger sac if someone wanted more, you would just lose the fold-up function maybe, and add to the fill/drain time.

As far as tower lights. I dont remember noticing if the tower had factory spots for tower lights like Bu's Illusion did. IMO, it would not be hard to add small, individual light asms to the underside of the tower: 2 small threaded holes and one for the wire to pass through. On the Bu's, the spots are there, just plugged with rubber plugs.

This is exactly correct. What was interesting to me when I got mine was two things: (1) the way the rear locker bages fold up, you don't even realize they are there unless you know to look for them and (2) even if you get the surf package with half the amount in the bow as the pro, you don't get to use the extra space for any kind of storage. It is all sealed up under the cushions, don't plan on stowing anything under there. It was solid fiberglass. I guess they just mold the deck that way???

I would love to see my 1000lb sac in the back instead of the 350lb. That would require cutting the cooler out on the starboard side though.

Thanks for the response, went to the Tulsa Boat show last night, they had a 2010 24ve with the surf ballast, couldn't spend much time, was with a speed walker of a friend, going back Wed with family to take a better look, just a quick look and touch at the new dash, all I can say is WOW, very very very slick looking.

On side note hey had the 100k Bu there with the LS3 engine, and plethora of nautiques, whos style is really fading fast, looking at the bu and the alpha z and then their tower and overall layout is like looking at a Rinker.

If anyone is in the area, check it out, the Tulsa boat show is supposed to be the 5 Largest inland boat show, they have some 65 foot Fountain, Cobalts, ect, as well as indoor wakeboard area with a rail ( only used by the Nautique wakeboard team), also they have the Dolphin boat, unfortuantely no Twiggy the skiing squirrle this year.

How do you compare any make wakeboat to a Rinker??? They do offer a picklefork though.

I was at the Seattle Show this weekend and I also felt the Nautique's seemed to be a little stale. As far as the Malibu's I was impressed at how big the interior of the 23 LSV was and the show price was around 68K and the boat seemed loaded.

Malibu show prices were very good in Cincinnati too. They were affering a 10 or 15K factory rebate in addition to dealer discounts, taking their 23 footer into the mid to high sixties. I still say that their new tower looks like an IKEA put it together yourself job. I can't stand it.

I have been running the W707 that is 20" x 20" x 50" (~750 lbs) in the rear locker of a 22Ve and it fits comfortably.

I have heard that Fly High may be coming out with a 25" x 25" x 40" (~ 1100 lbs) Fat Sac. I am trying to get one and to test and to see how it fits. I don't think that the width will help in any way. In fact, I am concerned that if I try to fill it completely, it may start putting too much pressure on the walls around it, especially the panel to engine compartment. If I can get one to test, I will report back the results.

The W719 Jumbo V-drive Surf Sac 24x24x50 rated at 1100lbs. Problem is the 50" length and 24" height. The Tige storage is not big enough to allow the sac to fully full. I'm guessing that it will only be about 800lbs filled, which is just perfect for a 22Ve/RZ2. Dont have pricing yet, so I cant say what kind of value it may be.

Make it easy on yourself and order the 22Ve sac from chpthril. He already has the dimensions and they have been proven 100% effective in many boats.

With the 22Ve, we haven't had any problem with the 50" length, at least on the port side. I haven't run it in the starboard side yet. The width of the W707 (20") is about right - it snugs up fairly well without pushing on the walls.

The problem is that the height is challenged by the way the front wall curves down for the storage. It prevents even the W707 from filling completely. I guesstimate that we get approximately 650-700 lbs. with the W707.

Plus, for the 2010 with the Pro ballast option, the storage in the bow is gone completely. The space below the seats is sealed off. So, there is only the storage in the center of the boat at that point.

I am hoping to squeeze a couple hundred more pounds in there without going to the expense of a custom sac.

Does anybody also know how the new upgraded stereo option is with the Pro 80's instead of the Pro 60's how well do they fit on the tower with the fold in wakeboard racks. On the 09's there were problems with flipping boards in fully while in the rack as the bindings would hit the speaker.
