Well i am going to HD tonight to get the stuff to replace my bunks on the trailer for my 20i. I was looking back at some posts and saw that some went from 2x4s to 2x6s. Will this cause the boat to sit weird at all?

I didn't use stainless staples. Not sure it matters honestly. Just make sure you don't put any staple where the boat could touch it. It's pretty easy job to replace and do. Not really a big deal, just takes a few hrs or so....
Good luck and have fun.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

did you guys use your regular nuts and bolts or did you use the lag bolts? I was thinking that using 1 1/2'' lag bolts/screw would be the best/ easiest way to do it with a washer of course. It would be esier casue I wouldnt have to counter sink the lag bolt/screw.
Did you guys use glue at all?

When I replaced mine they didn't have any 2x6 pressure treated wood that looked any good. I ended up using redwood and varnished them before putting the carpet on.
For each foot I used one regular counter sunk bolt and two lag bolts. It was really nice to have the regular bolt when aligning the bunkers (I did them by myself on the boat ramp), but yeah you have to counter sink them (I'd recommend locktite too).
I used Glue and SS staples. I felt glue and the varnish would help create a protective layer and possibly help keep water from saturating the wood.

idk if you would be able to staple into the composite would you?
i will look for it but I know pressure treated wood will work so I may go with what works.
I am also going to get outdoor carpet adhesive and put a light coat of that on there just to keep the carpet from moving when the boat slides.
I am also pretty sure I am going to go with 1 1/2'' lag bolts, predrill the holes and screw the bolts in with a washer. I have been googling trying to find out some more people's opinions and this is about the consensus.
I kinda think counter sinking the bolts may weaken the boards and fall off/rot quicker
Have thought about putting a coat of paint on the wood and will check that out also.
o yeah and of course all Stainless Steel hardware
if I left anythign out let me know I will be leaving in the next few hours
