IMO I would not buy anything like that unless I knew someone who already had one and could give info based on experience.

I think the first question would be if that little bit of added performance is necessary to start with. I know that when I was looking at boats I went with the 5.7L instead of the 6.0L because I didn't need the bigger one (according to my research), so why go bigger? But then, I'm not a motor guy either so this is just my meaningless

I would think the factory settings would be pretty performance oriented to begin with. There are no emissions on them and they were designed with performance in mind.

How much experience do these folks have with marine engines? Their ads make it clear thay are automotive performance sellers. "Well it's the same block as the car engine, so why not?"

I don't need the extra HP that badly.

That is the biggest joke i have ever seen. Scroll down and read.

If you have any electrical experience you could build your own cheap. All they are doing is using a voltage controlled resistor to change the signal of the IAT.

IMO I wouldnt do it anyway. Its is only going to change operating strategy in a very limited way and you would never know the difference. The other sensors on the engine are going to try to balance out the IAT input anyway.

In order for a chip or modification to work properly you have to fool ALL THE PARAMETERS in the operation strategy. And even then.... it doesnt provide for much gains in a normally aspritated gas application.

What about putting a different cam in? I replaced my engine last spring w/ an off the shelf 350 Mercruiser(300 Hp). I still have the 350 Mag engine, should I swap cams? The 350 Magnum Tournament Comp (265 HP)engine had a long duration, high, lift roler cam.

I'm probably making more work for myself than I already have.
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

Remember a cam modification will give you an upper or lower end performance gain.

As chpthrill noted earlier...you can do the same with a prop change with less expense and labor.
