March or April Season Kick Off Reunion

Ok guys, we all go to lake Mead and other places for reunions. How about we do one here in CA in March or April to kick off the season. We should do it somewhere in Central California so that the guys from the souther area and northern area can come. My thoughts are possible Lake Nacimento or San Antonio. Any thoughts or input on this.

I would be interested, but the wife is pregnant so don't know if I could actually make it.

Well from the sounds of it those two lakes are getting a lot of water this year so that may be a good time to put it together. I am thinking April will be the best time. But April cuts into spring break. Spring break may be a good time to do it also. I will be making a trip to that area this week so when I am there I will drive over to the lake and find out what areas are available and what we can put together. If anyone uses these lakes please let us know what lake would be best. I would think we will need a large area for it. So beach space is important.

San Antonio north shore is located next to the water, has good camping and you can keep you boats in the water there. The South shore is not located on the water.

Nacimeinto has camping but if the water level is low it is a bit of a hike to get to the lake. I camped there many years ago when the water level was low.

Hi SPB, I haven't been on in awhile. This would be fun. Let's hope the lakes get some serious water this week. Last I read in the local fish wrap, Naci was at 13%, and San Antonio was around 30%.
North shore is the call with all the beach camping. Keep me posted!

I would suppose north shore of San Antonio. I know it is getting some serious rain for the next week. I hope it comes up. That is two low to put our boat on for sure.

I've been to both lakes too...although I like Naci better, I think San Antonio would be better for a large group. Naci you have to camp in designated spots right near the marina, and if the water level is as low as it was last summer, you would have a quite a walk to the shore.

San Antonio doesn't have as many fingers and coves, but like mentioned above, the north shore you are able to car/RV/tent camp right on the beach next to your boat. The larger beach area would accommodate a large group much better than Naci. There are also a few trailers that can be rented at S.A.

Were getting some good rain and snow up here, hopefully all the lakes are filling up nicely for the summer.

Also on a side note did anyone hear anything about Naci installing a large ballast system near the dam to keep water levels high...? Last time I was out there the level was retardedly low (probably close to the 13% or even less). And there was a bunch of construction going on near the dam. When we asked a local park ranger what was going on, that was his response....(sounds like BS to be, but it would be pretty trick if they could regulate the water level).

looks like Naci is up 23 ft this week alone, San Antonio is only up 5 but was in better shape to start with.
