    Thanks to Harvey Smith!!!

Here's the bad news before I get to how great Harvey and the factory are:
We had originally planned to order a 20V from the factory in 2008 for a early 2009 delivery. We went for a demo in the local dealers 2008, which he told me he would sell for $36K to get it off the lot. It wasn't the color that the wife and kids wanted, so we passed. We went back a week or so later to discuss ordering and price. The dealer would never give me a firm, bottom line price but was asking around $51K for a 2009 20V. I asked why the 2008 was so much less and he gave me all kinds of excuses. I said I didn't think I could do that, but wasn't rude and left it open.
A few days later I found my 2007 RZ2 a few hours away in Oklahoma. It was new and on a covered lift at the dealer, Grand Lake Boat Sales. I drove up there for a test drive, but it was VERY dirty and had some things that needed to be fixed. They fixed them and I got it for what they claim was dealer invoice with trailer at around $53K. I still think I got a good deal. I drove it home and put it in storage for the winter.
Spring of 2009 rolls around and I take the boat out for the first time with the wife and kids. It dies and I get towed back to the ramp with a MASSIVE leak in the boat. The leak was only part of the problem. The motor cutting out was a whole separate issue. This is the way my summer went. I couldn't get anyone from Grand Lake to return my calls and the local dealer Xtreme Marine was ticked off because I didn't buy a boat from them, so it would sit there for two weeks. I had to stay on them to do anything on the boat. They never fixed ANYTHING on the boat. They tried, but all they did was throw parts at it and get my boat filthy. They did, however, point out that it looked as though the boat had been dropped.
I had been in touch with Harvey Smith through the latter part of all of this because I had such a terrible time with BOTH dealers. Harvey told me to bring it down to the factory at the end of the summer and I did. I haven't seen it yet, but he told me they went through it screw by screw and fixed the loooong list of things that had never been fixed or hadn't been fixed properly. Because of the problems with Xtreme Marine, they no longer carry Tige. So the closest Tige dealer is a new dealer about 3 and a half hours away in Northwest Arkansas. I sure as hell would NEVER go back to Grand Lake Boat Sales in Oklahoma.
Hopefully, someone will pick up Tige around central Arkansas soon.
The truth about a dealer making the boating experience great is so true. That didn't happen for me.
Harvey and the factory made my experience a pleasure. It's because of Harvey that I have brand loyalty. Thank you again and again.

Glad to hear that things are on the right track. Waaaayyy too many negative post on here about new boat owners having warranty issues and Tige gets flamed for not stepping up, when in fact, the problems are stemming from the dealer (only a couple it seems like), but instead of admitting it (the dealer), they point the fingers at Tige and then the upset owner gets on the 'ol internet and blasts away. Your story is exactly what I encountered with Andrew, Harvey and Lee with in a few months after we bought our boat. We had a few minor things pop up and a crappy dealer just added fuel to the fire. If it wasn't for these and the other folks at Tige, I would have been in a Supra or Centurion with in 6 months.

Again, glad things have been taken care of Tige does have some great dealers, many of which are active here, and you never hear these kinds of story from their customers, hmmm!

That's a real shame. It kills me to hear stories like that. I'm glad the factory came thru for you. We had a few minor (very minor) issues with ours, but our dealer did a great job of taking care of me.

Sounds like you will be able to get back on the water this year...in a great boat. I hope this summer makes up for last summer...

                Similar experience

I too have had a poor experience at Grand Lake, I think it is more of a specific person, Mike than the owner Kevin. I had a heater craft heater installed, purchased 2 pull out vents, I open the box before I dropped it off, got the boat back only hand one pull out, Mike swears that there was only one. Since, I only used one, did not think it was worth the fight. Dropped the boat off again for a winterization, replacement of two strap cords and changed a bent prop. They replaced all of my straps and charged about 40 a piece, when I confronted Mike that I thought they were under warranty he said they were not, and he had to replace them all. Also, when I looked at my prop, the prop was not the same one. Since I beat mine with a air-hammer for two hours I was very familiar with it, the one that was on there did not have one mark on the hub, but the leading edges were sandblasted. The prop was of equal quality of mine, but I still was not pleased by the switch. Ask Mike again, he basically called me a liar and got very loud and very rude. Seeing that I was not able to use any logic with him, contacted Harvey and he immediately contacted Kevin who reimbursed me for the straps. (only had less than a season on them and keep the boat every time in dry storage, and it was the straps that I never used). As far as the prop, since it was going to be used as a backup prop, I am not pressing the issue and it was equal poor quality as the one that came off.

Long story short, avoid Mike at Grand Lake.

I am very non confrontational, and would not even mention this, but several people have had similar experience, so if someone reads this gets something positive out of it, is that Harvey rocks and despite my poor time with that certain dealership, I am already looking forward to my new 2014 RZ4 with the the new autopilot, autodrive, auto double up and auto calm water feature.
The worst day of boating is still the better than the best day of work......, unless you bend your prop.

                  SpecialK,

Yep, Mike is an A#1 turd burglar. I refused to deal with him anymore. I couldn't ever get Kevin to return my calls. I basically begged in voicemails and emails to return my calls/emails. Kevin is the head sales manager. The owner is named Paul and he seemed better than the others there.
A new dealer in Rodgers, AR that also deals MC's has picked up the line. That may be too much trouble for you to take it to them, but it's someplace other than Grand Lake. Also, I haven't had any dealings with them. Obviously I'm gun shy on dealers these days. I'm actually taking my boat to the MC dealer in Little Rock. He has had a great reputation for many years.
Sorry to hear about your dealings.

                    That's funny!

Good to hear that Tige is taking care of Tige owners.

Harvey has recently helped us with getting some warranty work done on the vinyl on our '07. A seat bottom that has cracked and ripped on a corner.

                      Thank You Harvey.

I feel your pain and know exactly what you are going through.

I purchased a boat that was damaged from a dealer that is no longer a tige dealer. Almost three years later Harvey and Rick at Tige stepped up big time to get my boat fixed after fighting with the dealer to get it done. Dealer went as far as trying to get me to sue tige. I wouldnt so they made me sign papers so they could representing me.

Anyways, The guys at the factory are awesome and the boat is getting fixed. They stand behind there product so well and they want your tige experience to be a "tige" experience.

You may have seen mine down there, a black monster getting some new black paint and cracks filled.

Sucks to hear about Grand Lake. I had high hopes for them. Only problem w/ H20 in Stillwater, and I've heard this from others, is their pricing is extraordinarily high. Like to the sum of 15-20K higher than comparable dealers. Glad to hear someone opened back up in Rogers. That's where my 24V came from.... but Skiers Wharf has since closed .
Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.
