    December Lake Powell Glass

I flew down with my business partner to check on his boat. The water was glass and a balmy 50 degrees. Unfortunately, we did not have a dry suit or even a boat to board or wakesurf. We flew the length of the lake and landed at Bullfrog and Page. We saw one house boat up by Good Hope Bay. I have never tried it, but I think it would be a blast cruise Powell in the winter. Surprisingly, it was frozen over near Hite.

Just a little jealous! As soon as I get my laptop up and running again I'll toss up a few pic's of what I've been flying over for the last month!

Those pics are stunning. There is something about every lake and its setting that makes it beautiful. I'm not familiar the west all that well. Where is this lake located? I'm at Norris Lake in a Tennessee woodlands setting (also beautiful, but for different reasons).

The lake is in southern Utah. It is part of the Colorado River. MOKI thanks for sharing. Very nice pictures.

Seen Nick when he was hear in Provo-he stayed with us one night. TeamAllen -must be a Mac thing EKS, isn't that against the law to own a boat in Utah and not go to Lake Powell? Anybody doing any cold water boating? Deer Creek and Jordanelle are still not frozen over yet.

Moki, The crazy part is that my wife's family had a week on the house boat in July and they trade it for 4 days at Bear Lake.

My Mac would not show the pics either.

Unfortunately, I don't have the aerial pics that Moki does of Norris. I'll try to find some. I will say that on of the resorts on the lake has an airstrip if a pilot ever wanted to visit. I think it is Deerfield. I'll work on some Norris pictures. The good thing about Norris is that it is a TVA lake but not on the Tennessee River, so there is no commercial traffic. It is used strictly for hydropower and recreation. It is really clean. One of the neat things imo is that while the lake is created by two rivers, the whole peninsula between the rivers is state land with no development. Everyone has a great view!

                            None that survived, anyway.

I wonder what the highest survivable freefall into a body of water is.

There have been some reports of people jumping off the San Francisco bridge to commit suicide and lived - at least for a while. They eventually drown or die of hypothermia, but that is 245 feet. The highest I have ever jumped at Lake Powell is 65 feet and that is when I was in high school and stupid! I did see a Travis Pastrana ride off a several hundred foot cliff at Lake Powell on a big wheel on MTV's Nitro Circus. But he used a parachute after his initial fall. Wallacmc, just post some of your regular pics of Norris.
