Had I been in the market for the RZ4 I would have seriously considered the 6.0L. I'll say this, that RZ4 is a beast that can handle a huge crew. But I was very impressed with the 2010 RZ2 when ragboy did his review on the surf wake and performance of the vessel here:
    http://wake9.com/blogs/blog/tag/2010-tige/
I realized that loosing two feet and all of that weight weren't going to make a huge difference in wake size/shape and therefore wouldn't need the larger engine either. Another thing he said in the review appealed to me. The RZ2 was much more responsive to the ballast than the 24ve he had, so less ballast provided a larger punch. The pics in his review speak for themselves.

Then again, that all might be just a bunch of
IMO, the 22' Tiges are the best all-around boat in the Tige Fleet. It seems to do everything very well. The 24Ve/RZ4 are AWSOME flagships. The produce a phenomenal wake, but because of their extra 2', it take much more ballast to achieve the same as with less weight in a 22Ve/RZ2. The Z1 on the other hand has the best out-of-the-box surf wake I have seen of any one, not just the Tige boats. I'm 2 bills and surfed it with ZERO ballast on a 4.9 board with only a driver and photographer. Once we added ballast, it was SWEET. But, the extra foot in length of the 22Ve and the added beam seem to make a huge difference. If someone is more of a hard core rider/surfer, the there are other boats in the Tige line up that will suit your needs, but if someone wants a boat that just does it all great, and can seat 11 peeps comfortably for a day on the lake, then the 22' is the way to go. If you have a big family or boat on lake like Powell, then the added size of the 24 is a must.

Ok, i'm preaching to the chiore

      Question

      hey guys,

I have spent most of my time researching boats but am still weak on other products. I'm 250 (gunning for 220) right now and struggle to keep it going on anyting but a pretty long board. Is there a board out there that is more manuverable that can support my kind of weight? Surfing is great, but then what if can't shred it up once you're out there?

I've never been to Ceasar's Creek but I have heard that people go there. We usually go to Norris Lake, TN. If we ever do go to Ceasar's I'll look you up, and if you ever go down to Norris, do the same.

It's nice to know there is another Ohio boy here. I was starting to wonder....

This is a question for Surfdad, may want to post up in the surf section and maybe even send him a PM. He is the man for making board and technique suggestions.

I can say, for your boat: All the weight in the back on the surf side, TAPS at 3-5, speed 10.5 11.5 and drive in a straight line. This will give you a great starting point. Slower gives you a taller wake = more push which is good for a beginner, speed up shrinks the wake, but lengthens the pocket.

Imapigdog is a regular here on tigeowners and also bought his 22Ve from Andy. He lives in Ohio and boats on Norris. He had us and Andy and his wife down to there place last Summer for the weekend and we had a blast. I think he is planning on another weekend hoping to grow it into a Tige owners event. So, ur not alone!

That's very nice of you pig, and I will certainly take you up on that demo offer. It would be a bummer to spend all taht cash on a board and then be too heavy for the board or something like that.

I just saw the pics you just posted on the boat pictures 2009 thread. Those looked like Norris lake pictures. Is that true? Do you go down there too?
