    Water Drain Question

I have a 2006 20V and am trying to figure out whether i have all the water out of the motor or not. I talked to harvey and he was unfamiliar because my boat is a mercruiser which is a strange set up for a 2006. I have removed a blue plug from the thermostat housing and then another at a check valve at the bottom front of the motor (rear of boat) and a substancial amout of water came out and cannot find another blue plug anywhere. The mechanic that just did an impelar stopped by and figures that all the water runs to that check valve because everything has a hose going to it that would have water. I cannot find my manual at the moment and am moving the boat from my heated shop to a section that is cold, just trying to see if anyone knows anything about the water drain system on the mercruiser tow sports mag, I have read about an easy one step water drain for these motors but cannot find a picture to see if that is what i have on my motor, thanks.

I'm not sure of your year motor, but mine has two plugs on the side of the block, and also has one plug (two total) on each exhaust manifold.

I think you might look into your tranny drain?

If you have the same engine as I do, shouldn't you have 6? You may have anyother main drain, I have 1 on each side.

There should be one on each side of the motor...the 2nd one is a little hard to see on the starboard side.

thanks, guess I missed it. Should I be worried about doing anything else? It's supposed to be below 32 for like 6-8 hours tonight, I topped off the gas tank as it was empty and pulling all the drain plugs on the motor. Don't really know if adding antifreeze is really all that important? If I lived north where it freezes for day's on end, then yes I would do a real winterization procedure.

Actually, there is a hole list of end-of-season things that need to be done which are important no matter where you live. Protecting from freezing just depends on your winter time temps.

I figure if I change oil, fuel filters, oil filters and tranny fluid etc. either now or before the seaon, not going to make a big difference unless you don't run the motor after you change all these things? Then I can see how it could make a difference? But I plan to run the motor all year long even if I'm just bringing it home and runnin it in the drive way.

What side is it on? right or left from the drivers seat? I only take out 6, never seen another. Unless we get more rain, I will be winterizing my boat this wkend and would like to find it if possible.
