Put in some stabil, and check your coolant. It is closed cooling, correct? I'm not sure on how much oil, but I think there may be manuals on this site somewhere.

You should not have to pull the oil out of the dip stick tube. You should have a hose connected to the bottom of the oil pan with a cap on it. Put that hose out the bilge drain hole, remove the cap and drain the oil.

^^^ I was going to that also, then I called Marine Power and they did not recommend it.

There is good information on the engine manufactures web site or manual. FYI...Indmar is OK with synthetic oil after the first 100 hours.

This is from the PCM web site:
              Q. Can I use synthetic oil in my PCM engine?
A: Synthetic oils are not recommended for use in PCM engines. Synthetic oils may offer advantages in cold temperature pumpability and high temperature oxidation-resistance. However, synthetic oils have not proven to provide operational or economic benefits over conventional petroleum based oils in PCM engines. Their use does not permit the extension of oil change intervals.

I am not a fan of synthetic motor oil. I have not seen any added benefit that off-sets it's extra cost.

Short story long, i had an 87 Vdub Jetta back in the early 90's, when syn was gaining popularity, that I bought with about 50K+ miles on it. I used synthetic in it and the rings froze up at about 75K. Re-rung engine and went back to using Castrol 20W-50, which I had always used in all my other Vdubs, and sold it with about 125K and NEVER had a problem after. My 91 Cabrio has 210K on it an still runs strong, except the original clutch has finally begun to slip My 2002 Chevy has 120K and has been towing trailers from day one. My 05 Chevy company van has 192K as well.......all on conventional motor oil.

Bottom line, what you put in is not as important as doing regular maintenance. I do however recommend using a quality marine grade oil of the proper weight. If you like to extend your season, a multi-weight oil gives you better cold pumpability over a straight weight. The biggest diff between auto grade and marine grade is the amount of moisture inhibitor. The oil itself is pretty much the same and will offer the same lubrication, but the marine grade will do better at keeping the moisture in suspension. Boats tend to be used in a more humid environment then cars

Also need to change the trans and V-drive fluid.

We reccomend synthetic blend , it as all the benifits of both, we use nothing but kendall oil 15w40 is what your engine calls for 6 qts. I have the same engine in our ski team boat it currently has 1000hrs, with no problems used under extream conditions.

                    Dom,

I have about 750 hrs on my Tige and we're always running loaded for bear. Any recommendations for extending the life of my engine beyond the regular service intervals (which I've been following religiously)?
