I would have them buy it back. Start looking at 2001-2002 models, which have the 7.3 PSD. Except for engine/transmission, there are very minor differences between 2000 and 2005. Things like changes in the grill, mirrors, headlights.
PS. I have a 2002 7.3PSD and I don't lose any sleep about repairs.

With that mileage this wont be the last headache you see from this truck. Trust me. I have plenty of experience dealing with 6.0's
If you decide to keep it. You can PM me anytime with questions and I will try my best to help you with any problem that may arise. Although that doesnt make the cost of parts and labor any cheaper.Bad decisions make good stories.
