I will never go back to a gas motor in my truck.
    What toyhauler do you pull?

Sorry for the off topic. I pull a Heartland Cyclone, all motocross, except for the Golf Cart, it runs at 16,500.

Diesel is the way to go for big weight and durability!

I hope I am not making a mistake. I am real close to buying a 2003 F-250 with 120K on Monday. I am about 90% sure I am going to do it.

Just remember you have been warned about the early 6.0's.

I have been reading a lot on powerstroke.org and the horror stories don't sound all that bad. Most peoples theories are if it has made it that long and has never had a tuner or treated badly it should be alright.

Anything more than your F150 for towing a 20V is overkill.

I have an Expedition that tows my RZ4 perfectly. And most of the time its filled with people and gear. There are some pretty serious grades on my normal trips.

IMO the added expense and maint of a diesel will never outweigh its towing capability when talking about towboats.

Overkill, what is that? My tow to the lakes 50 miles one way and my F150 gets about 11 mpg pulling the boat. A diesel should get 15+ easily. Also my boat is not the only thing I tow.

Hey delong, Is your truck a 3/4ton or 1ton? I have a 07 3/4ton that I use to tow my 13,000# toy hauler as well but Im thinking that I might upgrade to a 1ton, But Im not sure if it will really make that much of a difference. I was told that everything is alitte more heavy duty on the 1tons, (breaks, bearings, drive train)The other reason Im thinking about switching is that I have a short box and a long box would be a lot better for towing. Now I have to be very carefull when I turn sharp so I dont crush the cab on mt truck. Sorry this is a little off topic but I love my 07 duramax and its the only truck that I would buy to tow with.

I have an 05 Ford E350 15 passenger van with the 6.0. I have 90k and so far since new the only issues have been alternator @78k 1 injector @11k. I do have oil that is "sweating" looks to be from the back of intake but nothing ever hits the ground and so far never have to add between my oil change intervals, which for me is @ every 5k and I use Mobile 1 full synthetic.
Loaded with my dirtbikes and a couple peeps it averages @ 19mpg at 71mph using the cruise control. Pulling my 24v I get about 13 to 15. Not to bad eh?
Oh yeah!! just had the fan clutch replaced under warranty as I had it to the dealer for a water leak(just a heater hose) and the tech found the fan clutch bad-------it never ever got hot even during a 110deg vegas summer towing the boat and hauling 8 people around!!

I get 16.5 MPG unloaded and I drive like an old man.
You will get around 13 pulling your boat.

I have the same experience with my 05 Excursion with the 6.0.
                              Be excellent to one another.

With all the added emissions equipment on todays new diesels you wont be seeing 15 mpg when towing.
You may get 2 mpg better when towing and unloaded the mileage will be the same as your F150.

If your looking for that kind of mileage an older 7.3L may get you closer to that range. They are hard to come by. The folks who have them tend to hold onto them.
