What is the difference between these 2 kits, by some of the older posts I think I would need the traditional "C-clamp style" correct?

I have the c clamp, the other is a harmonic, you put it on the end, hit it with a hammer and the vibrations are supposed to loosen it off. My personal expierence, with n=1 study, I used the c clamp, nothing, I beat it with a hammer for 30 minutes nothing, got penetrating oil x 3 and repeat the beating nothing, used a pneumatic hammer for over 45 minutes, loosing and tightening the c clamp, nothing, took it to one marina, nothing, took it to another marina who used a torch, finally came off. They state about 50% of the time they have heat the props up to get them off.

Again n=1, so I would get the c clamp and be prepared for a fight.

SpecialK stated, the diff is the style of clamp that it comes with. The kit with the C-clamp puller is more as the C-clamp seems to be the most efficient way to remove the prop.

I can get either one for you and have it in a few days, just let me know.

Put some bearing grease on the shaft and it won't weld itself on there quite so tightly. A wise man once told me that. Then my props came off way easier.

To add to Tall's claim, I just took the prop off after owning his previous boat for just over a year to replace it with a 1235 and I didn't even have to hit it. I tightened the clamp by hand, turned it a few times with the wrench and when it got tight, I gave it one more hard turn....POP! Just make sure to position your hand/fingers correctly as when it pops off, your hand will drive directly at the trailer! Matt had given me the heads up about watching my hands, and everything went perfect. As a side note, I put the marine bearing grease on the new one for next time since it worked so good this time! Thanks for the previous care Tall!

Avg shipping weight of an ACME is 12lb's and the edges are sharp!

Keep the nut on the end of the shaft while tightening the clamp. If the prop pops suddenly as they always do, it will not fall off the shaft and ding it up or ding you up. It also keeps the c clamp centered on the shaft end.

I use the harmonic (hammer) and have had no troubles at all... i wiped out 3 props in one season. Also the harmonic nut that is on there keeps the prop from sliding off the shaft. Maybe though it is the amt of time the prop is on the shaft that causes the "welding." In any case, the bearing grease is a great idea!!
