    Z1 Owners

I am new here. I did not see a Z/RZ column?

I am looking at a new Z1. I am looking for feedback on the wake compared to other boats. Generally, I have been in a Z1 at the dealership and demo a 22 Ve. I just have not had a chancce to get a pull behind one. I do not see many in my area. Any help would be great.

    Welcome to the forum.

You posted in the right section, you will get the most exposure here in "General Discussion". The site is divided by "V" series = V-drives, which the Z1 and RZ's are, and "i" series= Direct Drives.

There are plenty of Z1 owners here.......dont know where they are!

I'm not an owner, but have spent time in them. I replied to your WW thread before this one was started.

WTH? Where are the Z1 owners? They usually chime in pretty quickly!

A dealer in my area had a big end of the season sale and I had the intention to get a Z1 but went with the 22ve because the price was not much more for a lot more boat. If it was not for the 22ve on the lot I probably would of cut more cost and went for the moomba. Just the vibe I was feeling that day.

                Dave,

Hey man welcome to TigeOwners. I actually own an 08 Z1 that I bought this June from Texas Tige down here in Houston/Conroe. I don't even know where to start... I LOVE my Z1!! It has a great pull, a lot of power and, I think, a really unique look out on the water. It has plenty of room for a 21 foot boat with a great layout. I had a guys weekend a month ago, one of the dudes being a fellow TigeOwners member who has a 04 22V. How can I say this, he was really impressed with the wake for both surfing and boarding. He said that the Z1 is going to be on the short list when he buys his next TIGE. The dealership where I bought mine is great!!! What year are you looking at?? I know my buds over at Texas Tige have a couple of really really nice Z1's on the showroom floor. Are you close to Houston? If you are, go by there and check out what they have. They will be straight up with you and you will be happy that you bought the Z1!! You definitely get the most bang for your buck with the Z1 that's for sure!!!!! Let me know if you have any questions.
                Thanks Kvon

                  Hey man,

Thanks, finally got a reply. I am looking at two at Texas Tige in Conroe, those guys have gone above and beyond and I haven't even purchased a boat yet. I hope we can make something work. I am going up there this Saturday to se what we can do.

I plan on going to the reunion next weekend to get a ride and pull in a Z1. Will you be out there?

That is sweet!! Yeah, the guys over there are awesome!! I had the same experience when I was looking at boats. They were always willing to help me out, answer my questions and make me feel comfortable about buying a boat. I looked at boats for about 4 years and I went in there probably 3 times a year and they never blew me off!!!

Both of those boats are HOT!! I actually looked at the red and black 08 but I went with the black and grey. That is a really sweet boat. The 09 looks really nice too.

I am going to be at the reunion and you are more then welcome to hop on my Z1 with the fam and take it for a spin. Good luck this weekend and I hope that you decide the pull the trigger. It has been the best thing we have done!! The family loves it and we spend as much time on the boat as we can! Great family fun fo sho.

One other thing, Texas Tige is money on service also. I just brought my ride in for the break in service and they did everything thing I asked them to do. They will also get it back to you when they say they will!! Great guys, you couldn't have picked a better dealer and a better boat. YOU WILL LOVE IT!
                    late,

Dave - the Z1 rocks! I am the fellow Tige owner Kvon is talking about, I have a 2004 22V and when the time comes I will seriously look at a Z1. Here are my thoughts on it in no particular order...

                      Super solid like my 22V
more room inside than I expected, feels almost as big as my 22V in the cabin area, we had 7 guys in there and it was not cramped.
The speedset was SO nice, I don't have Perfect Pass and I loved driving with it!
Fit and finish was great, Tige keeps getting better each model change
We had a 500 sack in the front on the floor and a 250 in each locker and the wakeboard wake was as big if not bigger than my 22V with the same weight.
The surf wake was great, wish we had more time to dial it in and I need a bigger board for my fat arse
The 08 E (?) tower is super solid
                      Everything that Kvon said.

The only reason I would not get a Z1 would be if I thought I really needed the extra capacity a 22ft boat would give me.

Kvon, we need to post the Trinity river pics up here, I will send you my photobucket account info so you can upload them and I will post them up here. It won't work with snapfish.

Quoted-We had a 500 sack in the front on the floor and a 250 in each locker and the wakeboard wake was as big if not bigger than my 22V with the same weight.

Was this in addition to the factory Z1 ballast?

no, that was it, no factory ballast installed. I think the guys on WW asked you this question, what type of boat did you have previsuoly and what skill level do you ride at? Are you going wake to wake (like me) and want to play around with surfing or are you throwing inverts out to the flats and looking to agressively progress your riding? Assuming this is your first vdrive I think it is important to mention that wake size and quality is a subjective opinion. I think that for the vast majority of weekend warriors a factory system is enough ballast for a very respectable wakeboard wake with the addition of one large bag you can plumb in for surfing. After that it is all personal preference and need. After buying my 22V back in 2004 without ballast to save money my only regret is not getting a system installed and perfect pass. Might be more info than you were looking for but I wish I knew that when getting started.

Yeah, like Austin South Side said, my boat didn't come with the factory ballast system. That is something I am looking to add that's for sure. The wake is pretty good with no ballast weight at all. I am clearing wake to wake with no ballast.

So how did it go Saturday?? Did you go by Texas Tige to talk about your Z1?? Both of those boats have built in systems.

Like Austin SS said, looking back I too wish I had the factory system installed before I bought.

                              That can easily be rectified!
