    perfect pass stargazer

anyone installed the upgrade of the stargazer. i have heard mixed things. such as it has trouble in canyons.
i have a 01 2300v with the cruise controll style would like to upgrade to a programable style for each rider and surfing. are there any other brands besides perfect pass?

Nope, Perfect Pass is all you can get.

As far as the system keeping a signal, My GPS receiver is mounted underneath the dash and it still has a strong signal and I don't think its ever dropped it once its locked on. GPS is a fairly stong signal and you are connected to multiple satellites at one time.

Keep in mind, GPS is "Line of sight" reception like cell phones. It takes a minimum of 3 Sats to triangulate, the more Sats picked up, the more accurate the receiver's info will be. So yes, deep canyons could effect the GPS receiver's ability to lock onto Sats. If you think that Stargazer may not work for you, just go with the Wakeboard Pro version.

They told me when I was considering it once that there are so many sattelites out there, that it is unlikely you could find many locations that have a weak signal. I still am not sure I believe that...these guys have obviously not been to Lake Powell. But most of the really narrow steep canyons would not be places you would wakeboard in anyway.
        Be excellent to one another.

I had full GPS signal in provo Canyon and in almost any canyon I drive my car or truck through with my GPS system in those.

Does the Stargazer take into account any river currents? The Snake River I ride flows up to 4 mph at times.

No, does not account for currents.

I think you have to enter a correction yourself...but I could be wrong.

                      No it does not.

The best thing to do is, stop, and drift with the current to determine the speed. Then adjust your speed accordingly up or down river.

If you talk to PP they can set you up with a version that can use both GPS and Paddlewheel fixing the current problem.

I have experienced surging with mine in heavy clouds. To be expected and I should prob not be riding when the storms are rolling in anyway right?

CLouds should not affect the signal of satellites. You pretty much need a brick wall to stop it.
