    Learning advice needed

I want to teach my 6 year old nephew how to ride. He loves tubing, and I was thinking it time to step him up.
Should I start him out with one of those training skis for kids, or just go directly to a wakeboard.
    Thanks for any info

I had a friends son up with us last weekend. He just turned 7. We first put him on a ski trainer and skied around the lake. The store we purchased it at said he would be ready to board in a couple of years. We went to another store and saw a nice kids board on sale. We bought it and he was able to get up several times in a row and stayed up for a short while each time.

That is just my recent personal experience. My background is skiing and ski racing but I'm sure there are some boarders here that will help you out a lot more.

    Good luch................

Here's the 4 year old son of the salesman I bought my new boat from. It's great he goes off the platform and flips the board himself...I've seen adults who can't do it. I believe they told me they pull him around 12 mph and he even rides switch later in his run. This video was earlier in the summer and he has gotten a lot better; he's like my teen who would ride everyday if he could.

I'll apologize in advance for the Malibu promo

Start'em early...here's what they turn into. My son Benj is the second rider, he's got the white boots/board. This was on a trip he took with friends to Lake Hartwell, GA back in July.

Get him on a kneeboard first. He will get used to being pulled behind the boat without too much pull. Works like a charm.

My young girls learned to ski and board starting off on an upside down tube,my wife would stabilize the tube and the kid as I pulled them up. Once they got comfortable being on top of the water it was much easier teaching them to pull themselves out of it. I also think that it was easier to start off skiing on a more intermediate set of skis, the wide ones are uber stable and the kids will enjoy them for a lot longer than those training skis. they also used the same board I use, not the best when they are so small but they grow so quickly....

Both my kids started out on the kneeboard first. My son did the training skis second and my daughter did the wakeboard second.
