Best Boat Cover Material?

Hey Everyone,

So I finally got my Tige with a little help from a fellow TO member (2001 23v Riders)

The boat is in fantastic condition, but the cover is a little threadbare.

Wondering what yall recommend as far as a good waterproof cover? Want something that breathes but will keep the rain out. I've heard Sunbrella is good, Topgun is better (but double the price). My dealer uses Sharkskin.

Sunbrella or Sharkskin IMO. I would look at design and fit, just as much as material, a mosquito net will repel water if supported right .

Just has a custom Sunbrella one made for my boat and LOVE it!

I have sharkskin on the Tige and a custom sunbrella on the bass boat. The sunbrella is 3 years older and in better shape. Seems to hold up better than the sharkskin, and both boats are stored outside.

I'm leaning towards the Sunbrella. My father in law has it on his fishing boat and loves it.

I was going through the same debate last year around this time. After doing way too much research I found this...

Sharkskins are great at repelling water, however they do not breath very well. Thus if you get water in your boat, it will not escape which can develop mold (my parents got a little mold on the inside of their sharkskin cover last winter). People said if you use sharkskin you should have a vent or two installed.

I ended up going with a Sunbrella cover. I figured the hassle with buying and installing vents on the Sharkskin would out weigh the cost of a better cover. I am very happy with the Sunbrella cover so far. Over the winter I throw a big tarp over it and make sure water cannot sit and form a puddle. I've had puddles form with unexpected rain, and its never let water seep through.

I got mine from this company for a lot cheaper than other sites. They get their covers made from the same places the bigger companies use.

I vote for Sunbrella.
