I'll volunteer my services to run the camera, I'll meet you at Powell, pick the date.

I tried this at powell a couple of weeks ago. Now after rereading the post, I can see why maybe it worked pretty good, but not perfectly. I only have a 50-60 foot rope, and I tied it to the sand spike and to the anchor. So my anchor was not set out at an angle from the front of the boat, in fact it was way too close to being straight down. I think for this to work better, then the anchor should be put at an angle downward and outward. I was trying to accomplish in 50 feet, what you do in 130 feet. 130 feet might be overkill, but 50-60 feet is not enough.

With my anchor being directed more under the boat than away from shore, it held just fine, but the boat sort of moved far more than I would like it to. The wind was constantly shifting directions and my boat was sort of angling back and forth constantly with the shifts.

Anyone know where to get a good 100 foot anchor rope for cheap?

        Sure, mine was free

(only required the purchase of a new boat)

Excellent thread OWN. Nice anchor set up. This is very similar to what I do. However, it seems you would have the $$$ to have a video made. Come on now, give up the details on that now famous house boat (I saw the show too). And a heli? Mr. Big Stuff. See, at worst I would say you rented it but, who rents a boat with a helipad and then puts their heli up there? Nobody. Sorry, but you can't post an anchoring thread and then show King Daddy house boat with a full Helipad and not expect some questions on it. I'm pretty sure we need a new thread on it.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I know the owner of the houseboat and helicopter, and lets just say that he has more than one helicopter, you should see his euro helicopter, and he's a nice guy... We'll call him "Daddy Warbucks" for privacy's sake.
