New Tige Info

OK so maybe some silly Questions.
I'm a new Tige Owner, as I seem to see my boat came with no Owners Manual. I purchased a used 1997 Pre2000, 20'. Seems to be in great shape and runs perfect.
I would love to start some general maintenance, especially since all local dealers are going out of business.
Can anyone help with some basic engine specs/Info?
Who makes them? GM? Where can I find parts?
Can I use an auto parts store for filters and basics?
Thanks for any help, I look forward to getting my boat dialed in for next summer!

Welcome to the site and congrates on your new Tige!

There are a few tigeowneres here that have Tges similar as your, so they can help with any specifics. Also, use the search button in the toolbar at the top. There is a ton of info and the search engine on this site works real well.

The engine is a Marinized GM 5.7 ltr V8, probably a Merc. May be carbureted or EFI. You can use automotive filters (get one for a 2wd Chevy truck w/5.7) You can use auto grade engine oil, of the correct weight, but I prefer marine grade oil as it has more moisture inhibitors for rust prevention. Other parts such as plugs, cap, rotor, wires, etc, need to me marine grade from marine supplier. The fuel filter is a fuel/water separator filter unique to boats.

All Tige' engines are basic GM long blocks.
Various Engine MFG's tune them, add some jewelry and lipstick and sell them under their OWN name.

Parts are simple and avail through just about any boating parts house.

Tigewatersports in Corona Calif is always happy & handy sending out parts.
Get in their computer and you'll usually get a decent price break too.

Most the WB boat builders moved away from Mercury because of poor dealer support from Mercury.
But Merc too is GM Long block.
And parts still avail through Tige'.

More than likely the engine is a Mercruiser. Check out mercury.com for maint. info. I agree that a lot of auto stuff, oil, filters, etc will work, but you'll probably want to stay with oem equipment for electrical equimpment. Starter, aleternator, etc.

As far as motor it looks like that has been covered.

Maintenance:
I use a Napa Gold Oil filter, Chevron Delo 400 motor oil, Sierra fuel water separator (I found that at Napa too), lube your steering and throttle cables (any oil should do), and replace you impeller/gaskets.

I also bought a Seloc Mercruiser Manual (Inboards) that has helped out as well.
