to store with or without cover?

For those storing your boat in a storage unit. Do you keep your cover on or off? My boat was extremely wet from the rain we got while boating so it was not fully dry when I put it in storage so I left all the compartments open to air out and cover off. Going to see how dusty it gets over the week, but would rather keep the cover off.

    Opinions?

If out in the public storing, I would put the cover on. Out of site, out of mind. If you are storing it in your garage and no animals can get into the garage (example: cats), then it would be uncovered to let dry.

    Hope that helps out.

It's in an enclosed unit at a private storage facility. Not sure about the critter factor, did put the dryer sheets in the boat. Will see how it goes to make a decision on storing with or without cover. Even if I have to go back over after a couple day's of drying then put the cover on.

I store my boat inside and leave the cover off.

Hey man, I store my boat in the same type of facility. During summer months - when I am using the boat every weekend - I leave the cover off. After I get the boat serviced for winter however, I will throw the cover on and just check it periodically. I for one have never had any problems with rodents, birds or anything (knock on wood).

                Covers on.

I have vented covers so once boat is in garage I will leave cockpit and bow covers off until the boat has had a chance to dry out. I open up my seats and cubby on port side and leave them open all winter.

Once boat is winterized and dried out, I put my covers back on and store in my garage which on cold winter days is a toasty 30 degrees or so. I used to store my previous boat like this and with the cover vents
I have so far no mildew issues on my 20Vor my previousboat. Even in my own garage it is amazing how dusty the covers get.

I used to store in a barn but got tired of putting moth balls in the interior to discourage critters but I finally got tired of having my covers collecting bird and cat droppings and scrubbing them clean.

I have a storage area aside of my house so the boat is always under it and out of the weather. When I come back from the lake it stays uncovered until dry then I put the cover on. It is not tight just draped over the boat. During the winter I will tighten it down unless I am out in the yard on a nice winter day and want to listen to some tunes.

                    We store indoors in storage.
                    Leave the cover on loosely.

Amazing how dirty the boat gets just sitting there.

I would atleast cover it with a cheap poly tarp to keep the dust out.
Indecision may or may not be my problem
