I have a new 2008 22ve with 20 hours. i had an earlier post about my oil pressure warning sound coming on and got several responses that it was just a little low on oil. i checked and it was about 1 qt low so i added and didn't have any problems until about 6 hours later and it was a qt low again. I took the side covers off from the engine compartment and could see there is obviously oil in the bottom of my boat. i'm hoping it is just a bad oil filter seal the filter did have oil on the bottom of it. is there anything else that i could check easily that could also be leaking??? any suggestions?

Do you pull the plug when you are done at the lake for the day? When you get the boat home, do you check your TAPS plate to see if there is any oil from inside the bilge that could have drained out?
With that amount oil, I would have thought that you would have seen an oil residue on the top of the TAPS plate.

You changed the filter correct. I have had several boats brought to me for oil leaks and found that the customer changed the oil and filter and when they did they did not notice that the big thick seal ring stuck to the filter housing and pulled out of the filter. Then they spun the new filter on right on top of the old gasket with the new gasket inserted into he filter like it is supposed to be. Make sure their is not a double gasket on the filter. Then we can go from that point. I can give you some good help in fining the leak.www.automarinecare.com CWB, ACME, FlyHigh, Merc Marine, PCM, Marine-power, WETSOUNDS, HSE Volume Controls, Kicker, Sony, Samson Sports, and many other marine parts or accessory's.

Just give the filter a turn and see what happens, may be just a tad loose. If it turns by hand, wipe off all the residue, top off the oil, and hit the lake for a few ours. You're due to change it anyway, but i'd wait till you are ready to store it. If the filter is tight, or still leaks after word, then just fallow the oil trail up to it's origination. Could be an intake seal, valve cover, sending unit, or even a defective oil filter. Anything more then the filter would be covered under warranty, so let the dealer take care of it.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I haven't changed the filter yet but it's due for it's first oil change (20 hrs). I'm assuming the dealer put the filter on unless it comes that way from the factory. There wasn't a lot of oil on the filter but it definitely had some on it. I'm hoping it is something this simple because my boat doesn't have warranty. I thought i would channge the oil and filter and run it a couple hours then check it. I guess i could just clean the outside of the filter real good then run it and test it.
