    PK Next Weekend

I live up in Oklahoma and my lake is all dried up. I am not ready for the season to be over so I am going to take a road trip. Me and the Fam are going to drive down to Possum Kingdom next weekend. I ahve never been there before. Does anyone got any tips? What boat ramp to use? Are there any danger areas in the lake such as stumps or low points? I am open for any recommendations.

Just spent a weekend out there in early August... FUN lake. We stay very far up the river where there are less people and it is more narrow so that we can board and ski with smooth water.

Honestly PK is a great party lake; on weekends it gets pretty crowded so be sure to be safe. There are so many places to ramp that are good... Where are you staying while there??

PK is also pretty deep throughout, most places that could cause problems are very noticeable so you should be ok.

Dried up???? I didn't know we had any lakes here that were dried up???...lol. We've had record rainfalls and most the lakes are way above normal. Guess altus is a different climate zone...lol.

Where are you staying?? That will determine where you put in and do you boating. We rented a cabin at Golden Cove last weekend and were very pleased and the $$ was reasonable. You have to beach the boat after you use their ramp, but imported sand worked great.

We got plenty of rain too. But farmers use our lake for irrigation and have drained it to below 20%. They do this evey year. Really sucks.

For the guys asking where I am staying. I am just coming down for the day. It is about a 2 hour drive for me. I guess I need to know what ramp is the best if I am coming in from the north? Thanks for the help guys.

I would come thru Graham to the WEST SIDE and put in at Possum Hollow (free), but watch the bouy to the right as you go out, rocks that will screw your prop up. Long No Wake Zone, but perfect to get things ready for your day on the lake, and wrap things up as you are coming back in. Remember those rocks as your are coming in. You can catch dinner at either Possum Hollow or Fox Hollow when you are done.
Boat over to Hell's Gate and check out the lake, approx. 10 min. run.

            Have Fun.
