What is the origin of the name “Tigé”?
The Tigé name is based on “Tiger,” the childhood nickname of company founder Charlie Pigeon. Dropping the “r” and adding an accent over the “é” gave the name a European flair that complimented the flowing, euro–design of the company’s first boat models. The unusual name also helped differenciate the Tigé brand from the competition.

I thought I read somewhere that they originally named the boat Tiga...not sure why. In 1991 they produced their first boat and toured around the US, it had Tiga on it. But when they tried to get the TM patent, they found Tiga had already been taken. So they went back to the drawing board. And came up with Tigé.

I saw a documentary somewhere on it...not sure where though.

Last two years at INT Championships they kept announcing the boat as "tiger"....drove me crazy!
