    20i Steering

81 hrs on my 2006 20i; the steering isn't bad until I hop in my friend's Malibu and drive it. Noticable difference between the 2 boats. I love everything about my 20i, but the steering is not impressive. Anyone know what is up with the hard steering in Tige boats and if there is something I can do to improve it? Is this a design flaw or do I need to adjust, lubricate something. Thanks.

If it is just hard steering your cable needs to be replaced.
    Bad decisions make good stories.

Has to be steering cable. I'm on my 3rd one. Super easy to do. Take it out and order thru the the internet. Will save you like 50 bucks

Seems crazy to have to replace a steering cable at 80 hours; how much better performance will I get from a new one?

I replaced mine in my 2004 at 70 hrs 2 years ago, and it made a huge difference.

3 year old boat with 80 hours isn't all that heavy as far as use. Sitting parked/stored with the cable in one position in the sleeve is harder on it than lots of use. Allows cable to corrode inside sleeve and make steering hard. You'll be impressed with the improvement after the cable is replaced.

              Ambivalent? Yes. Or Not.

X2, things go bad faster when not used. Proper maintenance is also key: keep the bilge dry and lube the cable and grease the rudder box annually.

I have a 2004 20i with 900 hrs and have only gone through one cable , at 100hrs , when I installed the cable I added ground straps and havent replaced it since.
